This arrived today and is just like the OE Part other than the price..........thanks Stindig!

It comes with 3 x M6x15 countersunk bolts and many have said that the footrest should have pre-drilled holes to accept these. I have a 2010 GC and couldn't find any so peeled the carpet back and found the plate beneath as per the attached photo. Guess I will need to drill and tap holes to accept the bolts? Any ideas?

I fitted my original pedal at the weekend. The setup looks different though, I had the carpet and a shaped piece of what is best described as hardboard that enabled me to drill the holes and use the screws without drilling into the metal. It’s solid with no movement.

This is what I did on my Stradale carpet too but a few strips of 3M double sided tape for added adhesion - belt & braces

I double side taped my brake pedal with the 3m, stuck on there. Although i will drill and tap holes before i take her to the circuit.

I have yet to receive the dead pedal, but ill take a look over the weekend how this will fit my early GT.

Thanks Doctor Houx, as mentioned on the PM side I have the same setup in my 2011 QP (photo of the plate underneath the carpet/board below):

Frankly I'm too scared to drill into that bolted on metal panel, looking closely it seems there are wires running behind? It looks like some kind of electronic assembly, please correct me if I'm wrong.

However - and not sure how it is in the GranCabrio (as later GTs don't seem to have this problem) - the carpet/board assembly (that comes out in one piece) appears strong enough to hold the plate. I'm going to 3m double side tape it, and then add some washers and nuts on the back of the 15mm M6 bolts supplied with the pedal. As the carpet/board doesn't sit flush on the metal plate anyway, there should be plenty of room to accommodate the bolts poking thru a bit.

Picture of the carpet/board assembly showing how far the 15mm bolts come thru:

That’s worth a try Jon; thanks. I can certainly do the same with nuts and washers, just a question then of if it will sit flat against the metal bracket with no movement. If it will, then much better than drilling as you say. I’ll give it a go!

Well - and this is just based on eyeballing it - but as far as I can see, the lower right bolt would hit that 'raised' ridge (to the right of the bolted on metal plate), the lower left bolt would have to go thru that bolted on metal plate and the top bolt would land just on the edge of the indentation at the top. In other words, there's not a nice clean surface to hit (if you drill), at least that I can tell. I'm pretty sure it will sit flat (or close enough) that you won't notice it, given that all the stuff that's behind the carpet anyway.

Speaking of the carpet/board assembly, I used a 1/4 bit to drill it out. Started with 3/16 but the M6 bolts wouldn't go thru, even with an electric screwdriver. With the 1/4 bit they go thru and there's still a bit of grab, just my experience

Respect and kudos to you Jon, the simplest solutions are often the best.

offered the pedal up to the carpet section, drilled 3x 6mm holes, then used the bolts stindig supplied with 6mm nuts and washers.
Fitted the carpet section back and now done and dusted..... took all of 20 mins and is secure as you say.

Result......thanks!

Thank you, and glad it worked out !

I’m very happy with the pedal and hope we can get the other two done at some point
