First Post - Potential Granturismo Owner

I can highly recommend Richard Grace. I bought my immaculate low mileage Gransport LE from him almost 5 years ago (gosh! Is it coming up to 5 years of ownership already?).
the main reason I recommend him (apart from the fact that he is a nice guy to deal with, knows the marque well and is choosy what he takes into stock to sell) is that the cars are put through an inspection at Autoshield Maserati who are a superb independent Maserati specialist. Anything that inspection reveals is put right, so you are buying a sorted car at the outset. I always recommend buying the very best example your budget can stretch - I stretched and exceeded my budget with the Gransport, but the 5 years of ownership have been wonderful and it has cost me less than the Porsche 996 Turbo did in a 5 year period. If my thoughts turn to a Granturismo and chopping in the Gransport, my first port of call with be Richard to source me the best example car at the right price (may not be the cheapest but the price will be good for the car I choose).

Great decision in starting your search. Be careful in choosing as service history/maintenance is key. I’m less than a week into ownership and it’s easily the best car I’ve owned. I’ve came from Porsche/BMW M. I’d also recommend Dicky and if you can squeeze a bit more out of your budget, you’ll get a facelift model.
Really agree with the comment around getting positive recognition. I’ve had the postman ask about my car and also the neighbours!

Colour options aside, What were the “options” that were available for a Granturismo S? Also and I know this is subjective, but what are members views on which options are desirable and which are not so desirable? All opinions welcome.

Jules, only a few really.

Comfort pack to include front sensors and heated seats, and easy entry - an option but rarely omitted.

Bose

Then really it’s down to personalisation options:

Carbon Fibre wheel
Interior trim
Alcantara headlining
Contrast Stitching
Exterior Carbon packs
Wheels
Calipers colours
MC Handling pack (fixed bilsteins and grooved brakes)

Probably forgotten some but that’s the main ones.

The majority of the options were cosmetic fripperies - important to some, irrelevant to others. Concentrate on the condition of the car, not these non-essential niceties.

If you happen to want items such as a carbon steering wheel, or carbon paddles, etc., you could always add these at a later date anyway.

That said, your likely first post-purchase spends will be on various cleaning/polishing materials, and then louder exhaust bits.

Oh, well done, Jules! You were right about Grigio Alfieri, but whatever colour blue that is is just gorgeous. Suits it well, and pretty rare too, I would think.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
