Congrats and enjoy. The ghib is growing on me as a possible daily alternative to the cayenne so will watch with interest.

Welcome! Nice colour. What Esprit do you have? An itch I still need to scratch....
When I got her she was a standard 1988 Carb Turbo with 215bhp (first of the Stevens shape). After 18 years she now sports 300bhp and:
Charge cooled fuel injection
Hybrid Turbo
Upgraded discs with 4 pot calipers all round
S300 suspension
V8 wheels
SE front bumper
LED headlights
Sat Nav
Climate Control
Electric heated screen
S4 seats

66238

66239

66240She has been my only car for the last 4 years however with some big trips and a change of jobs on the horizon I thought it was time to get a more practical car.... So far anymore I have told this to nods in agreement until I tell them the everyday car is a ghibli, personally I love the fact that my practical car has a maserati badge!!!

That's exactly the right colour

Must admit that the interior colour was a big selling point, anyone know what the colour is officially called? It’s down as cuoio however the basic Italian translator simply calls that leather or rawhide. So far I’ve heard it described as burnt orange, caramel, and dark tan, anyone else got any suggestions?

As the others have said - welcome and your purchase story is similar, 'cept mine was less rational and even more impulsive!! - Is the NJS you have gone to in Pershore - if so that is where mine went straight to - pm me if it is

Cuoio is the official name Maserati chose for that shade of brown leather. Other shades of leather, such as cream, tan, etc have different names.

Your Ghibli was specifically built to be a useable and practical daily car, so don’t be concerned that the exotic badge implies it might not be. That’s a nice combination of cars you have, and far more interesting than the usual Audi/Porsche options.

Stunning and what a great project....Bet she is lovely. Had a 1990 Turbo and loved it.

Cool,

I wanted an esprit since I was a boy. Originally I wanted the bronze one with ski’s on it from “for your eyes only”. By the time I could afford one (sort of) I had researched the proverbial donkeys hind legs off of them and decided to go for an SE. Went to see a red SE and it was a dog, bottom lip firmly out and very dissapointed my dad suggested we pop into Paul Matty Sportscars. I said that there was no point as they wouldn’t have anything but we went anyway and there she was... longingly looking out onto the road at the other cars wizzing by. Both of us said what a lovely colour (midnight blue) and the rest was history.

As I said at the beginning of the thread, I only found maserati about 14 years ago although it’s only just occurred to me that both the Lotus and Maserati were emotionally driven purchases .

When I worked for Maserati we were also the only Dealer in New Zealand for Maserati too.
We had some nice Candy in the Workshop and Showroom.

Same here...the esprit was the car that was in my bedroom wall and never thought I would own one. I used mine everyday back in 1994.....It had 96k on the clock and never let me down.
