I'm buying an Alfa 166 as a daily. To use while I'm still 'ashore' here on the North Coast.
I just can't help myself. It's an itch I have to scratch. I had a long chat with the owner last
night. A delightful guy, in Yorkshire. He told me he was letting the Alfa go, so he could focus
on his Scimitar.

nice and all itches need to be scratched before its too late, we only get one chance at life, do like the scimitars as well especially the rag top ones

Have you got to do anything to the front wings?

both front wings had some rust on the front edges and would have needed new sections cut in, so just got a pair of really good rust free ones from Italy and a real doddle to simply bolt on with perfect gaps , did a trial fit, no fettling or messing about, must be the easiest pair of wings I have ever fitted

Enjoy. I bought one sight unseen from ebay eek years back. V6, 3.2 Lusso. Immediately drove it to Champagne. Must have been completely mad.
Loved it. Just didn't get on with it. (Much like my 164 feelings). Super cruiser, couldn't hustle it. Sold it three months later to my father, and bought a 156 V6 3.2 SP2 in the same colour as the 2l 156 I'd let go.
Lovely car, I'm sure you'll be very happy

Well, I did have first dibbs on a beautiful two litre red 147 around Easter. Locally owned. Inside was all black leather and was immaculate. Reasonable mileage. FSH at an indy. Sadly, I lost the guy's contact details.
But the 166 is also immaculate inside. Apart from a service, doesn't appear to need much. I do about twenty miles a day, on the days I happen to be driving, so its a bit OTT. But, for the sake of my back. I need the big comfortable seats and the auto box. Thinking of adding a Zender body kit and some sexy wheels, as they really seem to set the car off. That's about it.
You can't 'hustle' around here anymore. Traffic branch is everywhere, in unmarked cars. Its too much of an effort remembering what they're driving, because they change vehicles frequently.
Oh just noticed you said it was the 3.2! I was looking for one for a while now but haven't seen any for sale.

That's about it. Pics to follow in a fortnight :)

God no, **** no. Don’t even think about it. They look great as standard no need for Halfords tat on a 166.

lol This is a pre-facelift model and I always thought the front end a bit 'wrong'. But, I'm not deciding anything until she arrives and is polished. The later style wheels will be a definite change though.

The first gen without the toothy grille are the best looking ones. The did a pearl blue, think it was called Nuvola that is stunning.

Well okay. If you're going to start ganging up on me! ;)
I think I've seen that pearl blue and indeed, it was stunning.
I think the car suits dark colours better. There's a 'gun metal'
colour I've seen recently, that I thought looked good.
Can't think of a car that wouldn't look good in Nuvola though :)
I must confess. It was partly Jeremy Clarkson's review of the car
that sold me on it. When he really goes overboard about a car,
you have to pay attention, at least :)

Had two 166 3.0 a silver manual with high mileage and then a low mileage Nuvola Blue Auto, surprisingly the auto suited it really well and the colour was to die for

The only 3.2 they made was the Ti manual all facelift V6 autos were 3.0, I have been tracking down a 3.2 To and have one on my radar

I had a 166 3.2, great car. Very rare, only about 40 sold in uk, mine was a lusso. Not sure how many had the TI pack.
