Since i have had my 3200, manual, i have always wondered about the gears, do they all sound very mechanical when you change gear? in all my other cars you change gear and its almost silent, in the 3200 it seems to have the most loud mechanical clonk as you select/move the gear stick? when driving its not really audible, but when in traffic/selecting reverse its very noticable

Hi Beau ,

mine do and always seem pretty "chunky" in operation - I put it down to the fact that it's a Gertrag box which I know from experience are well engineered and durable but are a bit agricultural .

Yes that Getrag is a bit a rock crusher but they never give any trouble..you can lighten the change somewhat by using ATF
(auto trans fluid) instead of gear oil and also add ZX1 Extralube

ok good, im glad :)

im having no issues, its just the very audible gear changes.

i have changed the oil to the bmw lifetime mtf-2 oil used in there getrag gearboxes, which the viscosity is somewhere inbetween atf & normal gear oil.
