After seeing what could have been a great race spoilt on the 1st lap my greatest memory will be the 5 hours it took to get out of the car park! Never consider the Dadford Road Camping/Car Park! My first and last time parking there. Only upside was a good chat to a guy and his teenage son in their Giallo Strad. He has had it from new, £33k miles and loves it. Loves his other cars too as he also has a Huracan evo that replaced a 570S.

1st lap crash was 100% racing incident. Max assumes that his aggressive style requires everyone else to jump out of his way, unusually on this occasion Lewis didn’t. No one wants to see crashes or people hurt (least of all Lewis who widely regarded as one of the cleanest multiple world champions ever in formula 1). He ALWAYS asks if drivers are ok after any crash involving him or not.

if we are to overly punish close battles like this then formula 1 is dead. If anyone wants to put the incident in context they need to watch the Schumacher era or some of Max’s driving in the not too distant past. This wasn’t even a late lunge or direction change in the braking zone as mentioned previously. Let them race, please!

+1. I suspect Seb H will regret his aggressive remarks with time.

Couple of examples of accidents caused by dangerous driving

Lap 1 Silverstone was a racing incident with Senna's Moral Rule thrown at LH for the potential of trying to influence the championship. If it happened between let's say VES and Stroll then it would be a non story - other than Max running his mouth as usual.

Hamilton has got out of the way on three races this year with max being super aggressive at the start of races. This time, he didn’t. I reckon if both Leclerc and Alonso reckon it’s a racing incident, then I am inclined to believe it was, rather than any political manouvering by the judges.

Tables were turned this time around. Now it was Lewis with nothing to loose and throwing caution in the wind. Whereas previous years it was Max doing this.

It's always a shame it if hurts one driver so much while the other can continue to win the race. Stop and go penalty would have been a bit more deservering. Still max ends with no points and Lewis would gain quite a few. Max could have just let Lewis go, think long term, championship. When you are ahead you dont need to be aggresive all the time. But that is kinda hard to process when racing at full go i suppose!

But if there would have been no contact, everyone would be applauding the great battle and racing. That is not possible without these incidents. Whilst the celebrating was a bit over the top, the sheer joy (real or not) kinda shows what place Lewis and Mercedes are in right now.

If this would happen at Zandvoort, the other way around, the exact same thing would happen. Max would be all over the place as would the fans. And Hamilton and Toto would be crying out loud. It's all in the game when the competition is this close!

Notice how Lando got out of the way of Hamilton when he overtook him at Copse. Now there's a wise man. He's not in the championship but has scored in every round so far and lies third in the standings.

To finish first, first you must finish.

Roll on Hungary then, that's defiantly a Red bull track!

Just wandering how much it will cost RB to build a new car after Sundays nonsense, the engines most probably ok

One thing really noticeable here in France is that there is next to no litter.
People are very responsible and the benefits are beautiful environments.

Outside of the major cities Phil I agree... but Paris and the like can be just as bad (discounted the tourist hotspots).. but as you say outside of those most places are spotless

I agree to a point but they have washed the streets in Paris Daily for many years now.
Always with volumes of people you get the mess but a lot of effort from the authorities and the people make a difference here.
My biggest gripe is the darn noisy mopeds making a racket.

They have to wash the streets of Paris daily as it smells of **** most of the time. In fairness, Venice smells like a sewer on anything representing a warm day.

And is Vettel the most British German ever for helping clear the stands? Well if the crowd was mostly British, who left the litter in the first place? And I doubt he would have stuck a flare up his **** either?

But am I surprised he did this? No, because he is very passionate about the environment. Very similar to the photo of Lando last year helping his mechanics pack up the garage after a race.

Another day when SV showed his limitation as a driver (that spin trying to pass Alonso was not good), but he is a very thoughtful, humorous and in many ways humble (when not giving the finger on the podium or racing Webber) man.

Listen to his interview with Tom Clarkson on Beyond the Grid for some surprising insights to him as a person. Click on the link below and it will play on YouTube or find it on all good podcasters.
