I wonder how much they pay for the privilege of having the safety car in F1...

My question to that would be was Hamilton running wide for a disadvantage then? 29 times apparently.

Another peculiarity was Perez, he had an issue on the parade lap, so the field did an extra parade lap. This is counted as a race lap (?) and the subsequent total of proper racing laps for the race is reduced by 1. Perez didn't do that extra parade lap and therefore did 1 less lap than everybody else...

The FIA have all of the telemetry data to determine if the drivers are getting a time advantage. Perhaps it could have reduced tyre wear slightly by running so wide but there is a disadvantage gained by picking up all that dirt on the tyres

Good point re Perez I didn't quite think of that - he did start in the pit lane so the FIA would have timed him in as he would have to wait at the red light.

Yes but Hamilton is capable of driving that corner within the track boundaries. The fact he didn't means he thought it was advantageous not to. Could have easily avoided any controversy as has been said above by having a clear rule on it

Round 3 of the MotoGP too from portimao, Portugal.

Marc Marquez will be back following his broken arm injury. See how well the others go now that he's back.

Thought I'd add my 2 Penneth to this thread.

I'm currently watching Drive to Survive on Netflix and am half way through the second series.
It actually makes me want to watch F1. And normally I can't stand F1.
I guess Netflix have done their job!

Great to see it mixed up a bit. Shame about Lando’s lap being disqualified as it would have been great to see him front row. looks good for the race tomorrow though

Thought I'd add my tuppence worth. What a great day driving around this track with like-minded chaps and chapesses from the SM club. The whole day was awesome, Maserati tour, Pagani tour and then Imola. Many thanks to Zep and Matt for making it truly one of the best days I've ever had.

Another good race, Bottas Russel was a bit frightening but Verstappen had this one in the bag from the first corner. Hamilton had the luck with the red flag but made the most of the chance to get back, Bottas would never have made up those places.

That Bottas Russell crash was weird, there were a lot of sparks before he lost it and hit him.
