just in case...thanks!

But if the parts are not beeing sold seperately, i don't see any meaning in replacing only the one part.

The pump head doesn't wear and if you don't disturb the pump head, you don't need to bleed the system with the factory sd2. Replace the motor only in situ.
I haven't done this myself and therefore I can't say how easy or hard it is to replace just the motor in situ.
Regarding just buying the motor, you could just buy the motor alone, I've seen sellers in the US on ebay, a few years since I last looked.

This.

Replacing the pump means bleeding the system. Replacing the motor means none of that. And it's the motor the fails, not the pump.

Thanks for your comments. I get your point, but in the case this would happen to mine, i would replace both. There can be one -even little- possibility that the pump fails in the future. Pay another hour of labour to bleed and be sure that it won't fail again in the next decade.

I think the point is whether you DIY/garage, motor only, or main dealer/independent both with a sd2, motor and pump head.

Not so much. Nicolas makes a fair point (although I suspect it's more than one hour) but I have never heard of the actual pump failing, as opposed to the motor burning out.

Certainly motor replacement is DIYable. Pump head not so much.

Pump deterioration either impellers or casing will be gradual, sudden failure if not auxiliaries will be the driver (motor). In that case if possible just replace the motor, nothing to loose.

Had similar issue on my QP and Mcgrath replaced the motor and pump.
with 20/20 hindsight would have engaged suitable mech to replace the motor. Once the pump is disturbed the system can only be set up using proper SD2. Only main dealers and proper specialists have this device.
motor replacement cost hundreds
pump is well over a grand

If you want to do it ghetto, you can do it by opening and closing the door to prime the pump while the bleed nipples are open.
