following this post with renewed interest, as my QP is still lost in France. Transmission failure light illuminated and will not select any gear, stuck in neutral. Also does not start unless battery is disconnected then re-connected.

@Phil I really appreciate that. If nothing else I will keep sending people your way when they write me. I don't know if the other person wrote or not but I did send along your message. I'm also getting more Ferrari interest as well. I'm going to check out an F360 tomorrow for a client in the city. I don't know if I'm going to purchase one just yet but I might have to in order to keep up.....lol

@Rob if you have can not shift into any gears, and the car no longer starts you might want to first check the F1 pump. Once the F1 system loses all hydraulic pressure in the F1 system, it will no longer allow you to start it. I just had the same issue a few months ago with another client's car.

Okay, I am pretty much sure that Aldous will be handling the Actuator rebuilding on your side of the pond. I wanted to keep it in house with people I know there, as well as give you someone you guys already know is top notch. I need to get an actuator in his hands. I don't care the condition, just something we can take apart and rebuild. Please post if you guys can help out. I hope to have him up and running within a relatively short time. Additionally, it will be easy to obtain feedback data because he'll know what the scan tool is telling him.

I have another seal company involved here, that makes specialty seals, the O rings are easy, now going on to the seals most don't know about but are common in hydraulic cylinders. If the ratings are correct should be good for 3000-5000 psi but we will see when I get the answers back from them shortly.

Thank you for following.

Thank you for following.

I have one Craig I'll take it to Ace Cafe in a couple of weeks and get it passed on to him.

I suggest we then have it fitted to Bennys car as his is failing and if anyone will break it, he will.

Perhaps then if successful, Bennys one can be repaired and given back to me, I don't mind paying for the new parts.

Proposal accepted! I can test it under 'battlefield' conditions to check it out for future generations. I am sure it will work perfectly!

Okay thank you guys, let me see where Aldous is in this situation. I'm juggling a couple of things currently, but I don't see it being an issue. Benny you'll hurt your car befor you damage the actuator so be careful. We need good test results....lol. Let me just check to see if he's okay with it, as I know his schedule is crazy as well.

Already spoken to Voicey, he's onboard.

Okay, cool, sorry guys was on the 34' boat this weekend enjoying the A/C and Boston ocean air. If I seem sluggish on the responses it might be because of that, oh and the Angry Orchard Hard Ciders could possibly be contributing to it as well, not really sure though. Definitely needed the break. I appreciate you guys pitching it.

Did anything come from this or does anyone know if it's possible to get the actuators refurbished?

My car is struggling to get into reverse and it appears to be an actuator issue - i've just had the clutch and pump replaced by Giallo, any chance i'll be able to avoid paying £2k for a new actuator...?

Hi guys

Thread resurrection!!

Just wondering what the end result of this was?

Can actuators now be rebuilt and is Voicey (aka AV Engineering) the only option?

Interestingly, I'm pretty sure the person who Craig was having a "discussion" with is now working with Voicey, was pretty obvious when he mentioned Cyprus.

Just wondering if that's the only option in the UK, guessing the net is cast a bit wider given that this actuator (I'm pretty sure) is on the Masser, F360, F430 and I think Gallardo.

I also spotted this: https://www.sportsmaserati.com/inde...does-diy-f1-actuator-rebuild-and-setup.29466/

Thanks

I know of two people who have tried rebuilt actuators with no success, one where the actuator didn’t make it into the car and another where it did, but didn’t work as intended (both Maserati specific I should add). To date I haven’t seen a report where someone has used a rebuilt item and not had issues.

There are a few places that rebuild selespeed actuators on the web, they fail infrequently on our cars so the body of evidence is small. The world is long and wide so it is almost certainly possible, but fraught with potential pitfalls.

I can only echo Zep’s findings. Many have tried most/all have failed.

I do know if the pin breaks that can be done successfully but if the unit is worn your prolonging the inevitable.

Happy to be proved wrong but alas not seen anything as of yet to warrant this.

Thanks Matt.

Anyone found a cheaper alternative to a new one. Or a price comparison between the Italian brands? Is there a common Alfa part maybe?

Thanks

I can only speak of what I know. I would be very pleased to hear a rebuild story with a positive outcome on a Maserati actuator.

As a universally respected Maserati specialist Emblem would be the obvious starting point to make further enquiries.

I agree. I was asked my view, I gave it. As I said, the world is long and wide and it should be possible. As the only first hand knowledge I have of rebuilt actuators is of heartache and extreme expense, I felt it was important to provide fair warning. If that changes, I will certainly share.

??? My posts weren't a personal attack. Like you I don't know any better - rather sharing information and a "possible" route to investigate.
