Exhaust Valve Lubricant

I know there's been some discussion on this in the past and its never really been decided on. My valves were sticking again after a couple of years and before going the whole hog and cutting them out, I thought I'd give freeing them up again another go. I went with this stuff and its worked really well.

I picked it up from Screwfix for £5. I was hesitant to try spray copper grease in the past because I just assumed it would be too thick, but this sprays like an aerosol. Its a rattle can so you have to give it a good shake to get the copper bits mixed up, but it has loosened my valves like I didn't manage before even when I was using a gas torch and all sorts of sprays like WD40, etc.

I've done a really bad pic of the can but it works for temps between -18 and 1100 C, so should withstand the heat and keep on lubricating.

So I assume you sprayed on just the outer mechanical links etc, and not the insides.

Yes you can't get at the inside butterfly itself, but I doubt its that part that sticks, its the ends.

I had the benefit of having the back boxes off so I could let gravity help soak it into the boss as I wiggled it back and forth for about 15 minutes. But doing it in the horizontal position I'd hope would still work. It seems thin enough to draw itself in, and a couple of heat cycles should help it penetrate.
