I agree, but as range has doubled over the last 3 years, the issue is not as large as it could have been.
Good point. However, as we can assume that long-range will equate to many EVs now being used to travel longer distances, there's a direct correlation between the range of a car and its usage, hence its need to be charged while away from a home charging point. There are many variables at play here.

I’m guessing there are big tax breaks in Norway. Plus it’s a very wealthy country so lots of them can probably afford them plus the govt can easily afford to put in a charging structure. Plus, there’s less people in the whole of Norway than in London, or there certainly used to be.
It’s a great place though, I really enjoyed it when I worked there. They love big American V8 classics too.

Thanks. Interesting breakdown in your link that is relevant for ‘GT’ fans:

“Almost a third of chargers in the UK are located on residential streets. Only 6% are located at places mid-journey, such as motorway service areas or service stations.”

Surely part of the range anxiety problem. This contrasts sharply with the nature of charging point distribution in Norway where they have significantly more along their major routes.

In London (and obviously other cities) there are lots of low powered EV charging points built into the lamp posts. Its a quick and easy way of adding points, but most are purely executed with no parking restrictions next to them.

Same in Hungerford. Low powered and inaccessible. Plus you need an expensive bespoke lead to use the lamppost types.

A lot, for instance my sister has a volvo xc40 to transport her mildly autistic son about for his personal independence, he could run 10 miles easily so it's not about physical disability.

she paid £3000 extra for the volvo but the 3 years is up soon so she'll be getting one of the EVs as they £0 extra payment and as near as free to run as they pay everything apart from fuel servicing, tyres, insurance, you just lose part of the monthly pip payment in lieu of a car.
We had a motobility car when in the UK for our boy who but no chance of getting one here as he can walk 400m, the rules in the UK are very generous even my ex Bil had one because he had diabetes

When your down on miles left and worried qbout making it you have to turn the heating off, and wipe your windscreen. The heater ( at least in the i3 seems to use as much juice per time period as the elec motor if driving at local speeds

Best thing this at -6C week? Activate EV Zoe preconditioning on my phone; kit up and outside to de-ice my Renault diesel van. By the time I have started van and am attacking the side windows with scraper the Zoe is ice free and windscreen steaming! Wee Woman toastie and grateful off for her walk while I scrape, scrape…

You can read more here. The approach to charging infrastructure and distribution in Norway offers very useful lessons for us in the UK. It has been a major factor in reducing range anxiety.

Yep. Norway have massive oil and gas reserves, sovereign funds, workings get paid an absolute fortune and by selling everyone else fossil fuels, they can fund their own green revolution.

Hmm.... just a type 2 cable which comes with most EVs.
Hmmm… when we saw them in Wandsworth a while ago, this below was the gig at ca £400. But I see now that sense prevails and metering is in the post, thus allowing dumb leads to be used.

I've also heard good things about it, and from right fussy bastards, too.

Looks good as well. Although I think it will date quickly. When I was looking to have one as a company car it was a toss up between the EV6 and Polestar. Sat in both and test drove and the Polestar I felt was the better car and I prefered the looks and interior as well. Although both have disappeared of the company car list now. The best one on the list at at the moment is the Cupra Born from what I can see.

0-60 in 3.27 in that Kia! But as he says, it's how that translates to overtaking that is the really impressive part. Certainly, it is the instant toque and overtaking ability of our E-Tron that surprises people if they've not driven an EV before. Just so much faster than an ICE car, so less time-exposed-to-danger, meaning safer. Fun too.
