I have to say I have always found Meridien to be cheaper, but not by much. And the postage is much more reasonable.

As others haven’t, it’s not a slam dunk but it is worth a call. It might save a fiver, it might not.

I'm not sure what the issue is really. I think £8.00 to send anything next day is pretty good. I wouldn't want to do it for less.

I had a heated discussion with an Ebay buyer a while back who moaned that I was overcharging him by charging £9.99 to send something that only cost circa £6.00 to send via RM 1st Class Recorded. it fell on deaf ears that we were a business seller who had to pay someone to print the label package it in a jiffy bag or box and drive to the Post Office to post it. It was actually losing us money as the member of staff earned more than it cost to post it. Our charge was Postage & Packaging but he still couldn't understand.

It is OK if you are doing this in your own time personally and don;t mind giving up your time for free. When you are a business and paying staff to do things it is very different.

I was talking to someone who was thinking of doing some Hermes deliveries in the evening as a 2nd job. Turns out they get 50p per parcel and have to supply their own fully expensed vehicle. They could do 50-60 parcels in an evening. Doesn't seem worth it for £25-£30 after all costs does it?! I think this want it tomorrow for free then send it all back again attitude many people have these days is doing us many favours.

I think Ken Loach's new film is about similar, zero hours, no money if no delivery etc just to scrape a living. 'Sorry We Missed You'

Look out for a delivery drone / robot near you soon ;)

If you're getting parts posted to RoI, it's usually a kick in the teeth. Always has been. Unless you can come to an arrangement with the business because of your frequent purchases etc. If posting to N.I. Royal Mail 'signed for' might be an option.

Bought one from local MD £35+VAT. Cheers guys, delivery is exhausts etc is justified but not on little piece of plastic that weighs barely 40g.
