Euro Car Parts Mark Up.

After owning my short term (hopefully) BMW 330 Ci for just over a week, the Power Steering Pump dies and the company I bought it off replaces it immediately, which for a car that only cost 3 grand is an excellent service, especially when the pump costs £465 plus labour.

Anyway, the turns out that one of the owners of the place I bought the car from is very handy with the spanners and did the work himself. No complaints about that.
He then sends me the receipt for the pump so I can add it to the history of the car (very nice of him).

As he is trade, and obviously has an account with ECP he gets trade prices. I was absolutely flabbergasted to see that a power steering pump which the average man on the street buys for £465, trade get for £90!!!!!
£90!!!! I get that trade make a bit on the mark up of prices, but 5 times the price!!!!!

I actually thought about opening up an account for myself just in case I need any parts and any of my friends and family do.

I'm still in shock!

That is shocking!

Did ECP have a sale on at the time, or did he used a particular code like 'Weekend37' for 37% off this weekend that they seem to be doing right now...that could be useful to know...

Big difference in prices between trade and retail pricing on certain parts only, others are no different than if you just click and collect on line

My best mate Dave is in senior management at ECP and SportsMaserati is motor trade.

An opportunity to be had here?
I didn't want to mention him but often thought if we could do something considering how much Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 we get seemingly through plus other bits...Bosch S5 Batteries?

Nope. He gave me the receipt, showed the trade price. I put the same part in, and it was £465!

And they're £40 delivered off Aliexpress where ECP and trade seem to source lots of their parts - I'm in the wrong game again

Does the same part come up at 400+ on ecp website... Or is that the genuine BMW main dealer price for the part?

I replaced lots of bits on my old 330I with febi bilsteine or meyle for a fraction of the cost of the main dealer prices

There is usually at least 30% offers going at ECP but that still is a big mark up. Their sister?? company Car Parts 4 Less is normally cheaper.

That's about right, with the account with Parkers, Its even less!

We all have to make a living, so please don't complain!

Here's two interesting photos I took whilst picking up my half-price oil. The first saying that m34 doesn't work as a code any more, and the second, what's so good about a big yellow bucket that you have to pay £19 for it?
