I need some help, my daughters Mini One (2012) has started making what sounds like catastrophic engine noise (aka is sound like a tractor).
noise came on all of a sudden and the car has been faultless previously.
anyone have any recommendations of where she can get it received to.

That will, be the timing chains and the crappy plastic tensioner. It will nuke the engine shortly. Look on autotrader how many are being broken or have had new engine.

If it's the N47 Diesel engine don't start it again as it could well be timing chain related, so catastrophic if it fails completely.
Get it checked asap.

It’s a petrol engine, but I have told her not to start it again.

My sister had a mini that had terminal engine problems 57 plate petrol Cooper. I was surprised.

This is a 2012 low mileage car well maintained and driven very carefully. If it’s anything more serious that the timing chain I won’t be happy.

Sad to say but you will never beat the Original Classic Mini and hence why so many still going.
The worst thing they did was put a Peugeot motor in the later modern Mini.
