Some time ago I spoke to Shell tech support who told me that:

Ultra and Ultra 1 are fully interchangeable​

Ultra 1 is an 'improved' formula​

They both meet the same specification​

However, the guy couldn't, or wouldn't, tell me the exact difference, and although I've used Ultra 1 in the 4200 (with no ill effects thus far) I would still appreciate a bit of clarity on the difference if you have it.

Its just arrived and is the ultra not ultra1. They both have same specs on containers, i was led to believe the ultra1 was a slightly less specification but still ferrari recommended, since my car does very few miles a year i wasnt’t overly bothered and at this price you could change it annually or sooner. MD puts in ultra for service, but i currently running ultra1.
Thanks for heads up on deal, plus was free delivery direct from local depot so no waiting, not that i was in a hurry.

I’ve not checked myself but heard the same from someone I fwd the code onto. Guess it depends what oil your after.

As Oliver says it depends on oil, i priced up mobil 1 for Porsche and wasnt worth it as recently been serviced.
However i did once buy mobil 1 off amazon as it came with free leatherette mobil1 oil bag. The oil that came was not mobil1, but kept the bag. Amazon not interested and i never use amazon now.
With something as crucial as oil i’d rather be certain it’s genuine.
