Energy crisis

I'm with Octopus, on their variable tariff. It probably cost me more not having a direct debit but at least I control things. Every couple of weeks I take a reading give the reading on my online account, I'm on Economy 7 so it's a night and day reading, it's calculated instantly how much I owe(or deducted off my credit). I had too much agg with the Co-Op (who Octopus took over) when long periods went buy and ott estimation usage.
I was with the co op then octopus took over they wanted me to pay my bills monthly and direct debit and fit a smarty meter i told them this was not going to happen and that i would continue to pay my bills quarterly submit readings quarterly and wait for my quarterly bill to drop thro the letter box and payment would be posted and paid by cheque.

They were not very happy but thats life and i still dont have a smarty meter i like to be in control and not hand over that control to energy suppliers where they can overcharge make mistakes and you have to sort out the problem i can withhold payment until they sort out any problems .
And i am amazed when i give them a call of a problem its dealt with rather quickly.

You must remember when the Co Op never picked the phone up when trying to contact them, an absolute pain.
Octopus have been good compared to the Co Op, the change over has been a number of years now and I can only recall one occasion when I had to complain to them when they did an estimation once which of course was way higher than I had used.
Overall a good company I find.

If anyone does have a energy firm that is not playing ball or any firm that is not playing ball I strongly recommend using Resolver. Twice in the last six months I've used them, once with Plusnet and once with Evri and in both cases the problem was resolved once I went through Resolver.
