Embarrassing MPG

I've managed 24 mpg out of my 4200 on a 100 mile motorway run. That's as indicated on the computer, I've never checked it to see if it's correct or not. What I have noticed though is that according to the drivers manual ? the fuel consumption figures are quoted as being either litres per kilometre or in miles per gallon and I'm fairly sure it said U.S gallons which are a lot less than ours. Has anyone else read this?

I've converted from the indicated metric units back to gallons, and it converted correctly to imp. gallons.
24 mpg is the most I've had indicated out of mine, cruise control on the motorway around 75-80 mph (indicated)

I've got 19.8 mpg over 65k miles on the 4200, from filling records not the display (which is so embarrassing on US gallons that I set it to l/100km which I can't interpret intuitively so I don't have a bad number in my peripheral vision!). The best I've had on one full tank is 24.2, when at one point the range showed over 500 miles - I couldn't get the phone out in time to record it for posterity!

All this talk about fuel economy had me try out the " how many MPG can I get" road test.

Car: 4200 Coupe GT manual

Roads: Dundee - Braemar - Banchory - Cairn o Mount - Brechin - Dundee. No motorways!

Type of driving: Obey all speed limits using cruise control except very spirited overtakes to counteract boredom and using little braking for corners which thee are many.

I filled the tank before and after the run and averaged 24mpg over 175miles.

24 mpg certainly appears the absolute max possible for the 4200.
With the mileage I do yearly on mine it is mostly irrelevant anyway.

Perhaps I need to do the old fuel receipt / reset trip and get a calculator method rather than trusting the on board reading, especially with the UK vs. US gallon discussions.
I get indicated 16-18mpg on the return of Dundee - Braemar (via Glamis/Glenshee) - Tomintoul!

On a side note, I keep meaning to drop you a message, but either seem to be working, or doing things with family since the school holidays mean there is an abundance of things for the little one to do. I've not forgotten :)

No problem Chris, I remember when life used to be hectic with kids at school etc. When we do meet up I can teach you how to drive like an auld wifie and get over 20mpg. :D

That’s exactly the figure I got when I first picked up my 4200 recently and drove it from Stevenage to Bristol. I thought it was reasonably acceptable given the engine size and performance on tap!
