Hi Guys .
This was indeed my car .
I part X‘d her for a 124 Spider Abarth .
The clutch is brand new , supplied and fitted by Marios at Autoshield .
She also has an X pipe ( Marios again ) and modded back boxes (Jason Searle ) , she sounds fantastic , not offensive and no drone at motorway speeds or while cruising .
I fitted an alloy pedal set ( 3 and a dead pedal ) .
The battery is new too .
Marios gave her the once over , saying all is good underneath and that she she is a nice car .
The gearbox is all good too .
The roof was the main issue , with the 2 little wear holes , but it never leaked and the plastic back screen was in good condition .
If I can be of any more help please drop me a line .
Cheers .

Mike .

I'm not talking about gearing, I'm talking about breathing. I do agree with you and in my opinion the car has more than enough power, but some guys, like you I guess, want to keep modifying it. Why not modify something that works rather than something that just annoys bystanders?

I'm not talking about gearing either, I'm talking about torque. It pulled well from the low end even in top gear. I assumed 6th was a low gear but perhaps the intake manifold was just optimised for torque rather than top end power.

How about I (and guys like me, I guess) modify what I want to?

It has certainly ended on E-bay , again , not sure if it sold this time though .
I know , the write up is really half arsed , I was really quite upset when I read it , she is a great car and in amazing condition , they are a main dealer though ( Fiat etc ) so maybe not that interested in the second hand stuff , I don’t actually think they know what they have there .

Mike X,

Your picture of the clutch begs the question what happened?
When I picked the car up she was making a funny whirring sound , she had been stored for a while before I got her so I just thought it was something to do with being stood .
After a while the noise stopped , then one day , as I was on my way to have my X pipe fitted , every thing locked up , I managed to limp round the corner to my local garage and they diagnosed that the clutch had been munched .
I got her picked up and shipped off to Marios in Manchester , he fitted the X pipe at the same time . Marios did a fantastic job , replaced all the bearings and the clutch for me .

Sweet Jeebus, almost a year ago. The new job never materialised I'm still commuting 30 miles a day in my shopping car RS4.

Anyone know where this car went? Did it make it to here? I think about it daily. Literally :(

Me resurrecting old threads again...

I was in contact with "the Rat Man" who was a lovely chap and very much wanted to sell me his car. It created a LOT of angst at home so I pontificated... and then it was gone ;(

Anyone know where it is now? Mediterranean Blu manual with updated wheels and some lovely mods. If so, I would like to keep in touch with the current owner and perhaps be the next one!

Hope all’s well Peter!

I have regretted not buying this particular car on a daily basis for 6 months. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it was mine. It’s not ULEZ compliant, doesn’t have 4 seats blah blah. Don’t care!!

The last owner Derek had done the Formula Dynamics mods, updated wheels, in short everything I would have done (apart from a Gransport front grille and some wheel spacers!). It needed a roof patch up and then off to Le Mans with it…

I hope I get another chance. The only other manual Spyder out there is £27k and yellow…

Welcome back @marcos. How long since I bought your 4200? Time flies.

Hello Dicky!

It was missing that old 4200 that drove me to looking at Spyders. I should have combined the manual box and driving experience of the Coupe GT with the open air and that would have given me my perfect car. I have no doubt I'd still own it in that case.

The whole Aston Martin / James Bond wannabee thing really messed me up financially and I ended up living in a world I didn't really belong in... Now commuting in an RS4 ragtop (4 seats innit!) which although fast, is a fairly soulless machine by comparison to a 4200.

If you get a sniff of this car, or another manual 4200 spyder comes up, please do give me a nudge.

There was a blue 02 manual spyder like Mike's for sale on Autotrader last year, I seem to remember it for sale in the Manchester area. One came back on the market at Castle Motors in Liskeard, Cornwall recently. think they've took a deposit on it now. https://www.castlemotors.com/search...&sort[1][field]=price&sort[1][direction]=desc
