Hi Everyone!

I am the owner of the car that this thread is actually about. I really do not understand all the hate with my advert and car for sale.
To clear a few things up the car is an import from Dublin Ireland and is now on UK plates (Northern Ireland ones to be exact)
The road tax is £260 a year. No idea why but that's what the DVLA want as an import.
I have since updated my advert again for anyone that wants to read it.

Yes its cheap but the bodywork isn't great it does need tidied up as stated in the advert. but its not crashed as everyone seems to say?

Since advertised I've received so much abuse and hate simply because its cheap? Honestly thinking of sticking it in auction.

Who reclaimed the VRT? If anyone. Might be 7/8 grand there....

Thank you for taking the time to respond and to update your advert as there were a few anomalies there.

I doubt you would get your asking price at auction because the buyer is going to have to pay auction fees, so if you are prepared to put up with the time wasters you are probably best sticking to a classified advert to get the price you want.

Notwithstanding the rest of the bodywork, tidying up the front washers would help enormously (sourcing a replacement will not be cheap mind) as that really stands out and getting the car MOT'd is a must if you are hoping to sell to mainland UK. I can't see a UK buyer buying sight unseen with cost of bringing the car back without some indication of whether or not the car is roadworthy.

The interior you might as well leave alone as the costs to improve will not be recovered in your final sale price. There is quite a bit of work to be done on the transmission tunnel which could result in a very nice interior if done sympathetically, maybe a recover in alcantara as contrast to the red. The interior looks Bordeaux in the photo of the rear seats but DKR elsewhere. Lots on here like Bordeaux interiors.

Good luck with the sale.

Thanks for the reply but the car is MOT’d until November 2021, there was no advisories either. I am not really wanting anyone to buy the car without seeing it. Have simply requested that anyone who is really interested to come and view. I myself wouldn’t buy a car without looking at it first.

I have taken multiple videos of interior, exterior, driving, starting, engine bay etc.
Past that point there’s not much I can do.

I do not understand the hate in the this thread about my area though.

Hi Matt

Do you mean MOT November 2021.

Good luck with the sale.

Morris Leslie sold a 2008 4.2 HX08GJO with 75K miles over the weekend for £11,704 incl buyer's premium.

Trying to work out if the bodywork was mullered, previously wrapped or just frost:

Not the best looking MOT history though suggesting a buy-cheap-not-maintain owner.
This was the one, HX08GJO, someone later bought for £20k then after identifying certain faults post sale received £4k back as a good will gesture.

They certainly could not make a business doing it, but it makes entertaining television.

The US shows highlight just how much they actually lose on each car with the statement they have to make at the end with how many man hours they've spent on it.

They'll buy in for 10k, spend 5k and two weeks doing it up and flip it for 16k to some mug who's 'holding out his hand'

You must be watching the posh version , I hear

Old out yer aaaannnnddd

I have to record it and FF through the brewer segments

HX08GJO doesn’t come up on an MOT check
I think the current owner has changed the registration to a personal plate. All records will be transferred to the new reg. There are other websites that allow you to search using the original reg.

Soon to appear on an internet auction site then?

US shows also think you can make a fortune over rubbish stored in garages, with some chap who is a failed rapper with a tongue too large for his mouth auctioning such rubbish.

US shows and valuations are nonsense, unless you see it actually auctioned.
