Easy Entry passenger seat problem

Since buying my 2004, 4200 7 years ago I have rarely got the easy entry to work on the passenger seat - the driver's seat always works and resets after disconnecting the battery.
The passenger seat does not. I follow the instructions in the manual, and what I have read on this site, but what happens is this:
...Click forward and back twice and then tip the seat back forward and it motors forwards, as it should, but then stops in the forward position refusing to complete the process by motoring back and forward twice.
Any ideas or do I need some expensive electrical gadget?

My passenger seat does that occasionally due to lack of adjustment. The runners become sticky and the high electrical resistance trips the control. Liberal WD40 on the runners, move it fully back and forth a few times and try calibration again

Did this work, my passenger seat on the GS will move backward / forward using the button, i've tried the reset thing, with Mr Heathcote's help, however once you tip it forward it wont move at all...
Any ideas...

Will either be control module or motor that operates forwards and backwards. I had same on my GS some years back and turned out to be the motor. I purchased new control module and seat switch which I tried but made no difference, still have them. Changed the motor job done, secondhand from either a Porsche or Mercedes A class with fit, just need to change plug to Maserati, solder and heat shrink. I remember I spoke to a electronics chap and there is something in the motor that fails, it's some type of sensor that runs on the 2 smaller wires. I still have the old Maserati motor which has a Porsche part number. About £20 from memory and easy to change.

The motor works fine, I was wondering if there was a micro switch, but maybe as you say, there is a part in the motor waiting for a “ seat forward” signal which then latches the motor, if that’s getting signal but is kaput...no movement...

The motor will work fine but will not go though its initial calibration. There is some type of sensor in the motor, I think it works on resistance. Try the motor first, trust me I spent a bloody fortune on the seat switch which is a VAG part and controller before changing the motor, if I can find the old motor I will post a picture with the Porsche part number which you can cross reference with MB.

Thanks, yet again, there’s always someone on here with a fix, I’ll take a look and probably do as a winter job, along with rust proofing/ preventing underneath..
Thanks again..

I have a similar issue with my drivers seat, it does the reset fine, but then when i tilt the seat forward, it moves a few mm, then just stops. Il try to grease up the runners, and go from there, but i fear a new motor is required

I have same. Does the reset fine and often actually works for a while. Then next time moves just a few mm. Passenger seat always fine even after flat battery and battery reset!

Seat motor is the same as a Porsche, about £35 from the dealer.

Maverick on here can repair them but at £35 for a new one, why bother?

I am no electronics engineer but I did come across this some time back when mine was playing up:

The 2 wires that you do not understand are used by the memory in the Control Module. Each motor has Hall-Effect sensors that pass each revolution of the motor to a memory register in the CM where they are stored to enable the motor drive to be shut off when the motor direction limit is reached.

I assume this is what fails even when the motor runs fine, As Conaero above they cross ref with Porsche, also Mercedes as well, my one came from an A class, one on eBay now but when look make sure it is the 4 wire motor when looking, you only need to change the plug over to the Maserati one.

do you still have control module ?
