E10 Ethanol Fuel - The definitive answer (3200/4200/GS)

Here in France where you can easily drive a 1000 kilometers a day and I've done that several times range and access to fuel is important.
Last year's figures show we're a long way from e fuel.
Number of vehicles on the road.
Diesel 19.2 Million
Petrol 18.1
Electric/Hydrogen 1.15
Figures from a quick search online.

E-fuel realistically will only be sensible for classics. It's to energy intensive to produce to fuel all ICE cars on the road with that. BEV will be the future for the normal daily drivers and the runabouts.

The last remaining ICEs like classics and prob things like planes, may run on e-fuel in the future

E Fuel really does seem like the Future to me especially as the existing Fuel Stations can continue to be used.
Currently the cost is expensive certainly here in France depending on how much you buy €4 to 6 a liter.
There is hope though as Porsche and others are pushing for it and reckon it could be €1.50 to 2.00 a liter and I'd be more than happy especially after a quick search shows my cars need no modifications to run on it.
I never thought I'd be looking forward to the future but here we are :)
Harry Garage YouTube has been running his cars on it but he's got a bigger budget than me too.

The issue is that for the same amount of miles in a BEV you need 5x more in energy to produce the E-fuels to reach the same distance. Possibly they can get that down to 4x or maybe even 3x, but it's per km thus 3x more expensive, not counting the reduced maintenance cost cause less parts for a BEV vs an ICE.

Battery deg also seems to be fairly low and newer low-cost / higher density battery tech is on it's way. Remember they have had a 100 years to tweak on the ICE. Not counting the early attempts around 1900, BEV has only become mainstream in the last decade or so.
With AI and all new tech the 100 years of oldskool development can now be compressed in maybe 10 years.

E-fuels are only viable for us dinosaurs who can appreciate the sound of a V8. Millenials do not hold the car in high regard and for the majority of people a car is a means to get from A to B as cheaply as possible.

Could we be the last generation of Dinosaurs James ?
My son is in his mid 30's and has grown up around my cars like I did with my father but I'm guessing he's now a minority.

Hopefully not Phill, but it doesn't look good imo. I've job interviewed 24-25-26 y.o., have colleagues that age. Asked them if they have a driving license: No. Whisky tango foxtrot?!?! When I turned 18, maybe not that same day but that same week I was taking driving lessons. By 19 all my friends had their licence and were driving around in old (borrowed) bangers.

It's good your son takes up cars after his dad, in a few years time there will be only a small group of people left who can fix a car which they cannot plug into a computer. He can sort us dinosaurs out when the body does not feel like crawling underneath a car anymore.

This part may be sad but it is what it is. But then again, that's Darwinism.
On the other hand, there's a lot of good things happening, so I'm not pessimistic overall: I can communicate with you in France realtime, Den in the US, and that strange folk on the Island. There's wonderful progress in all sorts of fields, medical, technological, astronomical. And even when it does not always look like it due to the cockwomble and his gang in the US, that idiot in Russia, there has not been this low level of conflicts in the world or level of prosperity since the origin of written history.

So nice things are happening and I believe we are progressing as humanity, but we shouldn't let the goods things out of past slip (or the lessons or cars for that matter) through our fingers.

So this was this weekend's philosophical lesson. Back to day-to-day now.

I was gutted that I couldn't get my driving test for my 17th birthday but managed to get it a couple of weeks after and passed first time.
Thankfully my Dad having a Garage there was always interesting cars to drive from Alfas to Jaguars along with many others and why I actually have the BMW 628 CSI now.
Good Luck in your endeavors finding new blood.
A Rally friend of mine in the UK is trying to find someone to build a differential and struggling.
Google memories reminded me that the last one I did was back in 2017.
I was the oldest one in a Ford Dealership and this was for a big supercharged Boss 355 and I was the only one who could do it.Messenger_creation_60765211-43E9-4A04-BBDD-6C45703FCE50.jpeg

Kid next door: His grandad is into cars (has a Mk1 Escort with race engine painted as Eleanor) Dad (well Mum, actually) has a Lotus Elise.

Apparently quite likes cars but...
