My pal has car number two on order. He is currently building it in the industrial unit next to mine. He's already bought the MX5, stripped it and cleaned up the subframes, suspension engine and gearbox. It's all now being put back together he he's waiting on the chassis delivery. In total it'll cost him about £25k, plus a lot of his own time and skill. (So about the same cost as building a kit from Caterham or Westfield, but a whole heap more individual!)

As I recall there was something of a challenge getting this kit through an IVA as this was never designed to be a road car?

It is not road legal yet. It's track only and they are looking to start a (small) race series with circa 15-25 owners.
They hope to make it road legal later in the year.

I signed up for this but backed out when seeing the full cost. The teaser advert was for Kit (part one).
Still love the looks and MX-5 running gear, but track-use only not a realistic option just now.

I don't have pics, but a local guy has developed a kit to turn an MX5 into a Lotus 7.

You can put the MX5 engine in a Westfield (which is a Lotus 7), so that’s the easiest option someone wanting that.
Though why one would want that engine over a V8 I don’t know!:)87462
