Posted on the MOT Testers site.
As presented for its test with work done by a mate who knows what he is doing.
One thing that shocks me is how bad the hub and caliper are from British weather.59087

That is about how rusty my 03 XC90 was under there, actually it looks remarkably familiar!

Sadly that looks comparable to every set of brakes I've taken apart on something 10+ years old.

On the plus side, they are all thick chunks of steel and the fact that the surfaces look like they've been sat on the seabed with the Titanic will have little impact, provided the caliper seals and moving parts are all good - thought it's a sure sign that nuts and bolts will be somewhat reluctant.... First thing to die in my experience is the ABS ring/sensor.

Aesthetically it's heart-braking though.

wtf, am I seeing this right, some plank didn't bother to bolt caliper back to hub and went for test like that????, looks like the only thing stopping the caliper popping off completely is the wheel itself where it's been scraping the caliper

All down to salt on the roads in the Winter.
Spending a few hours on my 2010 Jaguar XF yesterday there is zero corrosion anywhere brake calipers, coil springs etc like new and nearly done 240,000 kilometers.

Spot on mate.
Very disheartening when I was testing especially when you have to book these morons back in for a re test.
The worst was welding repairs done with a £100 internet mig welder.
My mate who I work with in the Asda warehouse used to be a mechanic is going to repair my car but whilst you are doing the MOT can you reset the service light.
I kid you not I could write a book.
