Different Car for me?

The lastest Ghibli look nice and have more than enough power for a daily drive. Depreciation is a fact of life with a car of this type but if its a keeper for a few years it helps. If you like them and can afford it then see what they will offer you in part exchange you might be surprised., if not try selling your car privately. If all else fails spend the money getting yours sorted and then run it for a few more years, you never know it will probably be worth the same in 3 years time as it is now.

Well I love the interior of the car in the opening post but could quite happily live with that above......Both lovely.
Tough decisions Dr, enjoy the process.

As it is a rotten day I went to the garages at Preston Park area for a snoop around.
I was interested in Jaguar. So I went in and walked about the showroom looking at £60000 cars, opening doors sitting in etc. I was there about 10 minutes and nobody came to me and said 'Good Morning'
One fat guy was busy with customers. Another fat guy walked about avoiding me. 6 or so other fat guys remained in their offices and the receptionist stayed on her laptop.
I left
Went to BMW but I am afraid I do not like their range.
Went to Landrover and they were a bit better again I am not sold on their range.
Went to Lexus and they were very good. I don't know much about Lexus but they were helpful and the service was good.

Really poor service
Back to the drawing board!

I popped into Aston in Cheltenham today as I had a meeting close by.

Approached within five mins and spent a jolly nice half hour talking about DB9 and tje rest of the coupes. Offered a drive which I declined due to time constraints bit made to feel welcome despite the rental car I was in or my work uniform.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201810061231873?fuel-type=Petrol&sort=year-desc&model=GHIBLI&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&price-to=50000&postcode=ts70bn&make=MASERATI&radius=1500&advertising-location=at_cars&page=1

I am considering the above but the online valuation of my 2007 QP Exec came in at a disappointing £8750 for showroom condition (which mine is not). Shame as this one ticks a lot of boxes for me. I have not spoken to them direct.
Any thoughts please are appreciated

That diesel Ghibli will depreciate by more than the total value of your current QP, every year, for the next three years. While being more boring as well. So it's not a change I'd make.

Been my experience in the 2 dealers I have visited in last couple of years. Sit and chat with a coffee, drive a car if you want, no pushy sales, don't care what you arrive in or you are wearing. As happy to talk about your last holiday as your car tastes. As soon as I feel I am getting a sales pitch I walk away but I had the impression they would sit all day and chat if that was what you wanted to do.

Very nice. The final version GT DB9s are all priced high by the MDs, I guess as so few were made and they have the Vanquish centre stack and more power

Do you think they have further to drop!
Seeing how the new V8 prices are starting to trend down.

I am suprised they haven’t dropped already. At that price I am not sure why one wouldn’t have a vanquish or getting close to a DB11. That one is a pretty one though.

Yep, sort of my thinking, looks good and low miles, but too close to newer cars in price

I think, at the moment, everything with a large engine has further to drop, but I would expect these to fair better than most on the basis they were a special limited run last of the line DB9, with the NA engine running 540bhp and DBS exhaust. Could be the pick of the DB9s from an investment perspective in years to come.....

Yes it is very nice and if I'm honest, I wouldn't mind one on the drive.
But, and there is always a 'but', the interior (which is the bit you live with) is just like any other from any manufacturer of premium cars. Lots of distracting 'infotainment' (don't you hate that word?) buttons and touch-screens which take your eyes from the road which make the driving simply numb.
Everything is bland and featureless; it just makes me glad I have a pure 'old' car too.
The argument is that it has a certain amount of power etc. etc. but where the heck can you enjoy it on our grid-locked roads.
If I am stuck in a traffic queue I would far rather look at the sumptuous interior of my 4200 (not like any others) or the fun but basic simplicity of my old Mini.

Now I have this rather horrible feeling that the glass(es) of gin are beginning to speak!
