I've always found bootcamp to be horrific in terms of performance. But that was > 10 years back. Installing some kind of VM manager and downloading a Windows ISO is dead simple (although the USB drivers may be a PITA. Certainly were not for my most recent attemtps)

Even a @Felonious Crud could do it

Yeah, but almost none of your words made sense to me. I got:

I've had no real issues but it's been just for installing drivers/firmware updates to tools etc. I tried the vm method but like you say, a right pain, especially when the hardware is USB C/thunderbolt, the vm sees it as a USB 3 and the device is USB 2 etc
..

So is the X431 the only one of these that is capable of diagnosing/ setting the F1 gearbox and clutch PIS etc ?

Anyone?

@conaero Did you manage to test yours at all? I assume not capable of gearbox/clutch learning?
It’s very very good but read and clear only. It also red the clutch wear on my Strad as 0.0 so that doesn’t work either.

it will reset the service light (make sure your time and date are correct or you will lock the eprom chip)

Thanks Matt.
I'll probably have to go with the X431 then, as it's the clutch/gearbox I'm interested in right now.

Mine has just arrived, looking forward to trying it out. If anyone in the Northampton area needs codes reading etc, I’m happy to help.

@Zep whats the score with the 2 year free updates? I assume after that period it will still work fine, you just won't be able to update it for any new cars etc that come out after then.
Also, this isn't one of the ones you can only use on a single make unless you subscribe etc
Is that right?

The X431 Pros Mini is superb and worth the money with updates regular as clockwork.
Mine is coming up to 2 years old and I'm buying a new one putting the current one on a auction site.

Mine works on all cars, there wasn’t a single make option I could see, but it’s very useful to have them all so I didn’t look too hard. The updates are free for a year now, they changed that in Jan this year.

I assume that when the updates run out it will be stuck, but it won’t bother me for a few years.

Why get a new one? And not just pay for the updates?

(maybe interested in the old one I suppose)

I didn't realise they had stopped two year updates and I use mine professionally.
Last time I looked the updates were expensive.

I guess the updates are worth it for reasonably modern cars or new/future cars. I’m hoping once they have the 4200 module completely stable and functional, it won’t ever need updating anyway.

I used it to adjust my PIS recently. Incredibly easy and made just the difference I was hoping for.

MaxiDAS DS808 - it's a middle level device. Enough to found "missfire" failures grounds for example.

Can it see any other modules, or just the engine ECU?
Not only - depends of vehicle coverage, it's able to read almost all vehicle modules. Included injectors adapting procedures, lights lamps, air-condition, TMPS (diagnostic only) etc.
All depends of available updates - or example, still can't found ABS bleeding procedure for Maserati.. with is already available for VW group Lamborghini included.
With this device i found rear speaker wiring disconnected.
It's not advertising - but next time i need to read more b4 spend my money ;) Go to autel webside for more details and devices.

I just received a copy of the THINKIDAG dongle and extension cable with their latest and greatest - it claims that the F1 NCR functions are all there and working. Will have a play and updated the forum asap...
