Diagnostic contacts - QP Evoluzione

Hi all,

I've been searching for the diagnostic contacts on my -98 QP 3.2 Evo. I thought they where on the same place,right side footwell under glovebox near center console,as the pre-Evo cars - but clearly not. The only two spare contacts I have found are in the right side footwell against firewall right side of the fuse panel. They are rounded 3-pin AMP contacts and not the same as the more square 4-pin on pre-Evo.

Do any of You know where the contacts are located ?

Kind regards,
Arvid

To inform others who might not know - on LHD-cars the two diagnostic contacts for Evo are located on the right side of fuse panel in footwell. I could not locate them at first as I was looking for 4-pin contacts as the Ghibli and pre-Evo QP has. Ferrari changed this on the QP Evo and it received 3-pin AMP contacts - same as early 3200GT. It can be diagnosed with an adapter cable 3-pin to 16-pin and Unidiag software. Bought this cable :

Hi @Arvid ,
Have you diagnosed yours using Unidiag? I am having difficulties connecting.

I have the 3-pin<-->16-pin adapter + the FTDI VAG KKL cable.
You can find details of what I have done here:
Tried a dozen times. No connection. Ever.

My steps:
  1. Attach the 3-pin<--->16-pin adapter to the ISO plug and connect the +12V power source clips to the car's battery (don't connect this adapter to the VAG KKL cable yet);
  2. Connect only the USB side of the VAG KKL cable to my PC (don't connect the OBD side of the cable to the ISO adapter yet at this point);
  3. Open Unidiag;
  4. Open the "Connect" tab;
  5. Select the correct COM Port + set 5 baud init (pre-configured the COM port to 9600 8N1, 256-byte buffers and 1msec latency timer)
  6. Connect the two cables together;
  7. Turn ignition ON (without starting car);
  8. On Unidiag click on "Start + ID";

No keywords received, no ECU ID.. nothing.
I have no idea what I am doing wrong.

I am using this grey ISO plug located on the right side (passenger side) footwell under the carpet (it is a LHD car, so, passenger side).

Hi,

Sadly no. I never got around using the Unidiag as my check engine light was resolved without performing a scan. I received some files needed from "Redsonnylee" on this forum. I'll send them your way so you can have a look.

Stupid question; have you installed the drivers?
It is a perfectly legitimate question. I have seen others missing that step.
In my case, that was step #0 :)
I installed the drivers from the FTDI website: https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

I don't want to throw the towel to the floor yet, but I really can't connect using Unidiag.

Lately I have been wondering which ECU comes with these cars.
I do see the grey ISO connector as in the 3200GT. But.. is this ISO plug just another format to the old (non-EVO) connector?
I know that the 3200GT has the IAW4CM ECU. What about the QP4 3.2 EVO? Is it the same ECU as in the 3200GT?
I read somewhere that these cars have the 2 x IAW04C/40 ECUs under the right-side A pillar.

Big question atm: is the QP4 3.2 EVO 'diagnosable' using Unidiag (i.e., using the K-line pin) and the KKL cable, similarly to the 3200GT?
Or is the QP4 3.2 EVO diagnosed as in the pre-EVO, aka old-fashioned, 'protocol'?
