Detailing result

So I dropped the car off to be detailed the other day.. picked it up this evening, and what a result.
It’s had a two stage machine polish, ceramic coating on the bodywork, glass coated and the side PPF replaced.
It was done by Tom at Ultimate Auto in Worcester, and if you’re local I can’t recommend him enough. Fantastic results and very reasonably priced. He did all of the above, and also took it upon himself to also touch up some of the stone chips and respray the front bumper grills as the edges had started to rust, free of charge. He even gave me the remainder of the touch up paint that he had mixed specially.
I pinched the photos from his site hence the blurred plates etc!

Tis a thing of beauty, nice work.

Now the think is not to swirl it up again by washing it.

Snow Foam and let it sit
Rinse
2 bucket/rinse wash working in straight lines, not a circular motion
Rinse
Dry with a micorfibre, again in straight lines
Then I give it a once over with Demon Shine, again working in straight lines.

Using a cheap brand of foam I would imagine. It should be quite thick when it goes on, then sort or dissolve and run downwards, taking all the grit with it. What are you using to apply it?

I use a jet wash, but with the power off and a special snow foam lance....comes out like yoghurt....the food, not the Bristolian :)

Autobrite foam and lance (with pressure washer). As recommended on here I recall.

It does dissolve and drip down, but if I leave it for 5 minutes (random) the car is pretty much clear of it.

Maybe I'm worrying too much :D

Probably. Its job is to drain off the car taking the grit with it.

How did you get on with those Waffle cloths I recommended to you?

I've not actually needed them as yet. The filter kindly supplied by Navcorr of this parish makes the whole drying process a *lot* less onerous!

More or less the same routine as Matt, but I use a garden pump-up pressure squirter with Bilt Hamber Autofoam diluted to 4% (a pressure washer makes it bloody hard to get the ratio right). Leave it for 5 mins while you watch the dirt slide away, then pressure-wash off. Oh, I only use one bucket, but hose down the wash-mitt often. A cursory dry with a big cloth then Maguiars auto something or other detailing spray. And the raceglaze wotist just makes life so much easier!

Thanks for the kind words and the tips chaps.
I've always been a bit useless at cleaning cars.. I've bought all the kit a while ago, but used it once and produced a less than desirable result and not touched it since. I'll dig it out and have another go, and if its as bad as my last attempt the chap who did this work will do quick washes on the weekend for the same price as the local scratch n shine.

I bet you've got a disused pasta machine somewhere too :) Can't recall who, there are a number of specialists on the forum, one of whom made the good suggestion of picking up any old 2nd hand panel. Bit of practise and you'll be away.

Bilt Hamber snown foam is excellent, as is their alloy wheel cleaner. As above, a quick once over with a detailing spray also removes any water spots and adds extra shine. Zaino grand finale is very very good if a little tricky to use sometimes, definitely worth seeking it out
