There shooting themselves in the foot yet again , not content with cheapening the brand by producing SUV's with a V6 if you dont mind ,now they want to advertise the fact they are so desperate ..................lets bend it like Beckham 10 years after he was a legend

David Beckham doing donuts in a 4x4 Maserati SUV? This really pampers to a certain market...

I'm thinking of my former boss who drove a BMW X3M 35i - in his 40's not really into cars but enjoys "lifestyle"... Whatever that is.

One of them high end dealers in Colchester told my brother that Victoria Beckham bought a Range Rover from them and wanted the seats customised with the first letter of her name carved in the headrest and the first letter of her husband's name in the passenger headrest.

Ah, “V D” - it has a familiar ring to it.....

Maybe it's an age thing; somehow a footballer flaunting his tats doesn't have the same appeal:
Jodie Kidd is different as she was a proper petrolhead and had already owned a 4200 prior and spoke highly of it in Top Gear, I think this was before the GS came out.

She also raced the 4200 and eventually she got into an MC Strad if I’m not mistaken.

She probably sold all of two cars though. Beckham is thinking along the right lines but still a mistake probably made by a 50 year old bloke. What he should have done is ask his teenage daughter who should be the face of Maserati

I find advertising very funny. There is not one person on the planet advertising a product or service that would convince me to buy something I wouldn't be buying anyway.

On the flip side someone advertising a product or service that I wasn't a fan of possibly would convince me not to buy it.

I just really don't get advertising and it does annoy me the amount that gets forced into us from all angles constantly.

I have now watched this twice and have come to the following conclusions.

  1. It doesn’t make me desire a Maserati- but I may go out and get several neck tattoos.
  2. Maserati have completely lost the plot by advertising donut “hoon” driving of a stupid, very non-Maserati driver nature.

I think that add will entice a lot more boy racer types to attempt to steal one for the sheer kudos fact , then if they fail to get inside it , they will leave a trail of damage in disappointment .........................yeah good advert for car thieves ............there the type that could only wish to emulate Beckham

The Maserati image differs between regions. Maybe in the UK and Europe its mostly seen as a gentleman driver (in the vein of Aston Martin) but I know in America its generally seen as a boy racer/playboy type car.

Granted this mostly applies to the newer stuff like the QPV and GranTurismo onwards.

Seems to me they’d have been better employing Puff Diddly, 50pence, pitpoodle or M&M with this type of approach

If Puff Daddy was in it I would be more interested. For a start the guy is a legend music wise and as for his on-screen appearances he is happy to take the **** out of himself.

But alas we now live in a world where rappers in the US no longer make much money instead of songs about making money they rap about getting smashed on opioid based pain killers - shows the state of the economy over there right? UK grime artists on the other hand are rolling in it comparatively
