Thankfully just carried forward the front headlight area and possibly the rear haunches. I know which I prefer.

The only part anywhere near similar lines are the rear quarter glass lines for me.

I met a member of the management team responsible today. Seemed convinced that the Daewoo was the design that Maserati bought in from Giugiaro for the 3200GT

An interesting article indeed.
No matter what the origin, the 3200GT is still one of the all time classic pieces of automotive design. Nothing is ever completely original. Everything in design has to come from somewhere. Lucky for us that Giugiaro and Modena captured the essence and got it so right.

It’s just a pity that Maserati have abandoned its owners by not continuing to produce the essential parts and help keep the marque on the road - reducing their curators (us) to the role of scrap heap scavengers when it comes to obtaining the bits we need to keep their cars running. Even Ferrari still support their old models better than Maserati! Thank goodness that their engineers managed to save some of the classic paperwork before Maserati were sold on and taken over.

I always thought it was Proton (Malaysia) that it was designed for? Either way, I’m glad Maserati got it as it is in my opinion one of the best shaped cars ever, I have always loved the fastback style and curves.

Maserati At Heart by E Cozza
Which book are you referring to please?

Apologies for the original typo'

- I think you can find it on Amazon?

In this book of over 500 pages Ermanno Cozza, the true historic memory of Maserati, passionately tells a story packed with behind the scenes truths - right up to today - that have never before been published. He covers half a century of the company's life, which he lived in close contact with the great motor racing champions, ingenious technicians, designers and, naturally, company life as well, of course, as the unforgettable cars. A carefully chosen collection of photographs and other illustrations complete this invaluable book. "Over 66 years have passed since I walked through the gates of Officine Alfieri Maserati (the Alfieri Maserati Workshops). It was in 1951, and in all that time I can truly say that Maserati took hold of my heart. The factory, the men and the cars have indelibly marked moments in my life. Today, many people consider me to be the living memory of Maserati and, in that way, take me back to those earlier days. In this book, I have tried to convey the excitement of living the Maserati legend so that, step by step, I cover the most important moments of my long and extraordinary experience: the excitement of participation, the joy and pain, the cars and the defeats, the ambitions and the professional difficulties. While I have always enjoyed good health, over the years I have been infected with the Maserati `virus' of which I believe I have been a carrier all this time - and it is a virus of which I never want to be cured" Ermanno Cozza"

Maserati has a Classiche Department - mostly for checking authenticity and some original paperwork.

Here they show the red cover for Italian and blue cover for English, but web searches show the English title with both red and blue covers.

I have the blue one from Amazon. It should specify which language you are buying. Amazon is more expensive but gets to you quickly. I don’t know what the postage is from Italy - probably more even though the book is cheaper. The English edition has a few editing errors in translation but pretty good none the less. It’s a bit episodic but great on fact.
