Aren’t you a bit old for children’s toys? Work harder and buy a better car.

Yes Benny.

Nurse? Benny needs his pills. Again.

Cyclists are the cholesterol of the nations arteries, and these days there are f*cking thousands of the selfish ba5tards holding up traffic because they can. Bollocxs to them.

Bike's are like gold dust at the moment - wait a bit and there will be loads of second hand bargains when they all get fed up with them. And e-bikes are a pita - got stuck behind them yesterday - hard to pass on country roads when they're doing 15mph thanks to electrics (normally they would barely do 10)

I totally get it. But this isn't for 'fun'. It's for fitness ;)

Off road will give you a better work out than on as you need to move around the bike. Plus it's more mentally stimulating, and it'll keep Benny off your back :) I personally wouldn't go anywhere near any kind of road that isn't a quiet lane, which makes road cycling difficult if you want to hook up a decent route.

You can get a decent hardtail for under a grand. The Ragley I posted fits that criteria and is what I'd go for but there are good options for less.

They're way better for doing skids than road bikes.

I asked some bike friends same question a few years back and was pointed at Merida, they generally are better spec for the money than most of the well known brands, I went Cube MTB for the same reason.

Being over here there is less access to off road trials near here so I went looking for a road bike and decide to look second-hand, picked up this awesome Cannondale for £300, a quick service and swap of pedals and its ready to do some road miles. Also should be easy to fit to a cycling trainer over the winter months

I'm all for off-road but Enduro Motorcycles.
When I was competing regularly that's when my fitness was 100%

Makes perfect sense, but nowhere round here. I need to be able to just go. It's my psychology.

Would be more fun I'm sure, though. Also have the concerns about road riding. I tried a few (12?) years back and was not impressed
