Cut in the fuel line

Due to a recent faux pas, I now have a cut in one of the two fuel lines running down the right hand side of the car.

Short of replacing the entire fuel line, has anyone successfully done a repair? It appears to be 8mm plastic tubing and is easy to access, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

The clever Dorman fuel line joiners don't seem to be available here.

Thanks and cheers.

I wouldn’t think that is the sort of thing you want to repair.
My knowledge of engines is less than awful but surely the pipe is in sections as it runs from one component to another. Ie fuel tank to fuel pump to engine?.Replacing the relevant section is surely the best and safest option

And it's not just any old bit of rubber tubing but rated to handle today's bio enriched petrol. Choose wisely

Hi guys, well I'm going to try and repair the damage by trimming the line and installing a Dorman 800-192 8mm fuel line connector which has press fit unions.

They arrived today, so I'll let you know how I get on. I've got some extra vinyl fuel line and a number of couplers but hopefully I'll just need the one. Reviews seem to be mixed, but there's no heat or special tools required.

Hopefully compatible with your tubing, I use similar at work, but it's reasonably rigid nylon tubing we use with them.

I lost a car to a fuel fire - bloody scary !
If that fails on a hot engine whilst driving your family might just wish you replaced the pipe with a genuine part.

Just saying .................

Thanks for the input. I cut abut 5mm of damaged line out and fitted the connector. It worked perfectly and I can't see why it shouldn't be a permanent fix.

Very easy to fit. Thumbs up from me.

As long as rated for the high fuel injected pressure generated by the fuel pumps!
They will run at a couple of bar, not fart pressure for a carburettor!

They are rated for high pressure.

A fantastic product imho.

Having just had a look for them, to be honest they are nothing special, the same push fit fittings are used for nylon and polypropylene tube in industry for mostly compressed air and liquid installations. As most things, designed for one particular usage then someone finds a niche in another market but charges much more!
