I am with you on that but my problem is my speedo must be knackered - I sit at 50 and everyone - artics included overtake me!!!!!!

Same problem, set it at 50 and it's not fast enough for everyone else. I know 50 is actually in reality less than 50, and if you set it at 55, you still would be okay. Still!

Got to admit I don't use it often but on the motorway it's a must, as said before especially on sections where there are averaging speed cameras....

I managed to track down a new part on e-bay about 4 months ago and just about to get it fitted next week - again to be used on quiet motorway and speed restricted areas where I am forever creeping the speed up and then spending too much time looking at the speedo.

I have just checked and the fella I got it off of e-bay (from France) and they have no more stock - they only had 2 to start. There are some available from Latvia on e-bay.

I did spend a good few months just monitoring tried numerous countries of mister auto who took the order and then said a a few days later they did not have the part (three times!) (national franchises, so frustratingly don't cooperate with each other). Finally e-bay came up trumps.

good luck, I an sure either Latvia or perseverance will deliver.

I would be interested in doing this upgrade. Are the parts still available? I feel I should be able to do this by following the guide! :rofl5: To settle my nervous heart - its just as described in the guide, yes? All the connections are already there, no ferkling under the bonnet etc ? Yes?
My car is a 2003 4200 Spyder, manual

Fitting the cruise stalk assembly is not hard. One additional plug that is already there and you're done. Hard parts are getting stuff off in the first place. In my case it was the steering wheel boss. So place your bets on whether your journey will be simple or frustrating. Let's hope for simple.

My steering wheel was a b*tch to get off the shaft, also remember to allow plenty of time after battery disconnection/isolation before attempting to remove the airbag!!!!
Other than that the job is fairly straightforward, best of luck to anyone making this worthwhile upgrade.....

Did you use a puller?...mine came off easy.

Yes I used a puller but not until after I had explored brute force with the nut on the shaft a couple of turns to stop it flying off, anyway not a chance of that happening! I eventually had to use a puller but it was still wedged well onto steering column and came off with a bang in the end

Making this live again. After fitting the cruise stalk, there's no need to match with ECU, right? Just mechanical retrofit?

Hi guys,

I made use of this excellent info some time ago and was delighted to have cruise control in car! Thanks.

One question though. I take it that to cancel cruise, you either have to touch the brake pedal, or alternatively turn it off.

The first method produces quite a bit of driveline "shunt" which is annoying, while the second works absolutely smoothly, but it means you then have to turn it back on and reset original your cruise speed.

It would be really nice if there was just a cancel button. Does anyone else have the same issue?

Cheers

Graeme

Thats exactly what I found so found the smoothest method to switch it off on the stalk.

You could try the RESUME button on the end of the stalk, cant remember if this did the cancel/resume also from memory as I don't have the car anymore.

Adjustments to the brake pedal may reduce the shunt, but be aware that the same swith is linked to the gear box on the CC so you don't want it too close to on/off.

Can you now post the easy mod to change the QP's rain-detecting crazy intermittent wiper setting thingy into a non-detecting variable speed thingy, like I had on my X-Type Jag?!?!

The switch on the side is meant to change the sensitivity!

Yeah, but as you know that just changes it between randomly hysterical and randomly depressed.

My Jag had a very similar stalk, but no detection, so you could just manually ramp up and down the level of intermittence, which worked really well.

Perfect description. I've not even worked out which way the sensitivity changes as you turn it towards or away. Total waste of time.

Probably the only single thing that annoys me about my GT
