It’s nice to be able to watch it here in Sweden. Whether they can get over the line before the new ball. Or even if...

You can’t defend 4 runs with 3 wickets left. Pakistan should have had 4 slips and attacked. With the new ball, a hat trick could have been possible.

Woakes fluked it, but he deserved to hit the winning shot. Pakistan just had the new ball but it can work against you as it did here, it flies off the bat and the surface notably for Broad's four and Woakes fluke.

Good game though.

Yes. 4 slips, that last 4 runs would have been caught. 2 bowlers left. Probably still lost, but if you don’t go for it, you don’t win. Good match though. Fed up reading BBC website commentary though. The comments from folks saying Butler should be dropped. Root is ****. Blah. Blah. Just like Hamilton is ****. Unbelievable. What happened to the more innocent time when you would argue about things like this in the pub. And then fall around laughing as the night went on. Maybe I should have posted this on the Rant Thread.

My lad was coached by Joe Roots coach at Headingley. He told me that as a 13/14 year old he had observed the coach going through the paces with an English player. When it was his turn, Root told the coach he wanted the same session, no holds barred, and nothing less from then on. He was a very driven young man.
I winced at some of the sessions my son had, very talented but not driven, could have/ should have played at county level but he fell out with the game....

I think these days of professional sport require incredible levels of commitment and if you are not sure you have it, you won't succeed. Hopefully he has found that elsewhere. Long gone the days of gentleman cricket players (or racing drivers!).

My Lad was good at cricket too, could whack it all over the park and bowl too. Got coached and it all went out of of him. So he gave it up.

It's a different mindset, I played at school with Neil Fairbrother, Lancs & England, his commitment was a different level although he was a better rugby player but he preferred cricket

Fantastic test match and result. Really pleased for Jos to get runs and Woakesy was due some runs too. We’ve a pretty settled squad now and some great talent that can’t get in the side. We are growing into a very good side, winning when not at our best. We bowled and batted poorly in the first innings, fielded dreadfully throughout, and still won, sign of a very good side. We’ve a load of match winners in the squad, exciting times.

I’ve got rovers tickets Mark so will already be there. If you get any takers we could possibly meet up in the Harris Gardens for breakfast beforehand.

Would be good idea but I'm in Scotland this week, hence the ticket availability.
