Creaking Suspension?

Hi, got a quick couple of questions? If anyone can help. Couple of issues that have developed want to know if I should be worried. 1 The car has developed a storage cracking from the rear suspension. At low speeds you can hear it. Started about 2 weeks ago, but seems to be more regular now. 2 When in gear and accelerating there is a judder in the transmission. Like its not delivering power evenly. Once you hit 2000 rpm it goes away. But below then, say your in 3rd or 4th and go to just accelerate. Its noticeably lumpy. I am going to take it to Shiltec to check. Wondered if anyone had experienced the same. Cheers Steve

What car is it?

My suspension creaks in summer, meant to grease it but never bothered. Dunno about the judder

@DrQuad what car is it? The creaking is probably dry bushes. Some lubes my help or the bushes may be on their way out.

The judder is probably not good, but without knowing the car and box.....

Mine only does it when it's hot weather and it's not that bad, just on the speed bumps....

Mine creaks until it is warm. It's a daily driver so probably not due to lack of use. It had some new bits fitted earlier in the year and still does it so I'll just put up with it like I have for the last 13 years.

13 years of creaking suspension sorry but I'd be looking for a new mechanic to have a look at it.

Our esteemed leader was the last one to service the car. Sports Italia changed some suspension bits because of wear but it still creaks for a couple of minutes after it is left for a few hours. Lancaster's in Colchester, McGrath Maserati, Grimaldi and Barr Tech have all serviced the car and checked the noise and most comment 'they all do that Sir'. I'm not bothered by it. After driving over 100k miles in it, I hardly even notice it any more, but passengers occasionally comment.

As it seems like you are offering your services as a new mechanic, you could always come and check it over yourself. ;)

That's interesting after so many people have looked at it that it's still there.
Been on the tools hands on for 42 years so not a new mechanic and full respect to you doing so many miles in her.

I meant as a new to me mechanic, as per your previous post. ;)

Good to know - we just say 'the mouse is back' as I have a vaguely similar story - so just go faster/rev a bit more so can't hear it!

I came
I came over last year and put a front subframe in a QPV and re bushed the suspension, new springs and brakes.
I know. I have been stalking you! :p

Seriously, I'm from NZ and I followed your thread about repairing your 4200 with the failed engine and subsequent emigration with it to NZ with interest. I also had planned to move to France when I retired, but the missus has decided she wants to stay in the UK.

Sounds like dryOMG joints in the suspension like bushings, or the sleeve for the bolts that pass through them. Failing that the collars where the bushes are housed are torqued too tight? Seen it on plenty of cars, maybe where they have been torqued without the full weight of the car on them. also drop links and anti roll bar collars to attach to a subframe can cause the same.

Mine has all new bushes at the front but still creaks just as I pull down out of the drive - then no more.

These cars do creak a lot, it's annoying. I've had the front bush kit fitted together with drop links, ARB bushes, all springs replaced and a new rear wishbone. Following advice from Dicky I realised that the residual creak was from a shock bush which only occurs when it is dry but some lubrication makes it stop. As has been said before it's parts costs that is seeing many Masers disappear and the QPV and then GT/GC are getting to the age where it is starting to happen.
