8% increase here, but less than what you’re paying. Have to fork out now for garden waste collection but that’s only £30 for 9 months ish. From what I can see the council here is one of the better ones in Wales. When you look at the finances you do wonder about the shortfalls.

Not got ours yet, never had garden waste collection however they are now offering it for this year, as an extra cost if you want it.

Ours is £285 a month for 10 months. Two years ago it was £220 but they hiked it last year claiming it had been the same for a few years. They added all the inflation from that time and some extra for good measure. I get potholes and crappy street lighting in return. Some deal.

Increase of 5.9% for me. Oh, and only 25% off as a single person! I must learn to use more. Maybe I’ll learn to drive two cars at once!!

Interesting thread...

Our council tax is £3154 a year, so if we paid monthly would be £263. We then pay extra for garden waste removal... and also pay an effing gardener to create the waste to be removed...

Ours has only gone up £6 compared to last year, but it cam with a leaflet that says...
Money worries? Not sure what to do? Call DUNDEE MONEY ACTION on.....

Which tickled me :)

Mine is £3500/ year- in bloody South Wales! And I have to trudge my recyclables in the rain to the end of the blasted drive. They should send an envoy in a Strad to collect it up and wash it for me for that price.

its not the councils to be fair, they have been subject to significant cuts from central government and need to raise money. I don’t like it anymore than the next person but am realistic that social care, care for the elderly and mental health care to name only a few needs funding. And yes, I also have to pay for garden waste and compost etc

Agreed. I know a few people who work for local councils, and the level of budget reductions, job cuts and austerity measures the councils are having to introduce as a result of government slashing their funding is ridiculous...

Thatcherite bastards! Can't pay, won't pay! Let's organise a friendly riot on the streets of London. Bring the government to its knees.

Oh, wait...
