the cars booked in to go verdi next week for my throttle body/potentiometer replaced, but i was reading about a contactless system that people were recommending
so my question is this, can anyone tell me what to do as im spending a lot of money at verdi next week and i want the best outcome, shall i go contactless or just get it replaced?

Definately Dem , this means no moving parts and is the closest you can get to eradicating T/body problems , pretty confident that will be the end of your troubles , i said that to you a year or so ago , great to see your biting the bullet and going for it , who will supply it and at what cost we have a couple of suppliers might save you a bob or two

hi dem

there is no confirmation that askews repairs are contactless. if you want to go this route then bill on here or boomerang are your options. boomerang means sending you tb abroad (hmm). costs for this route( and bills) around £600. i assume verdi will not fit this part once modified to protect themselves from comeback should things go t.u. for what is a relatively small gain for them.if you go contactless then this part of your tb will not wear out. that's good but there are other elements in the tb that can fail and contactless will not help you there.this route has not been extensively tested in maserati circles but works for volvo units(pretty much identical)

if you go the askew route you are looking at around £350,£450 or £550 ish depending on how much they replace inside and how long a guarantee is offered. this is a well proven route and has been mine and many other's choice.

i assume verdi would only be interested in fitting a new part to make it worth their while. it really is a 1 banana job to fit -you can do it yourself with an allen key or get a mate to do it. the previous cels will leave historic codes on your ecu but these are harmless and can be cleared at the next service.hope this helps

regards

rob

Had mine done by Boomerang in Holland last week. Very quick turnaround, cheapest option that I found. Very happy. I hope he doesn't mind me publishing his price but it cost 400 EURO plus postage, which worked out at about £400 all in. No more throttle with life of its own and no more hitting the pedal and it not responding, no more CELs from the throttle pot either! As far as I know only Bill & Boomerang offer the contactless solution, I didn't see any point in buying a new throttle body or replacing the parts as it will only wear out again.

Too true Nick, well done. I suppose we have to see if the unit works over a long period of time though.

Hi Nick, would you mind PMing me with the details as well? I don't think mine's ever been replaced, but it would be useful to have them for when it does go!
Thanks,
