Considering FF

I plucked up some courage to go to the Dick Lovett Swindon showroom last weekend to look at the FF.
It is a very big car for a Ferrari but I am seriously considering it.

The folks at the dealership where extremely patient and friendly. The usual man-maths questions were answered and financial balloons were illustrated.
The Ferrari Finance options with 50% after 3 years seems a good one if you are buying a limited edition Scud or CS Stradale.
But I think its a bit unnerving when considering the FF as I think there is more depreciation to come on these.

But it is the best option for a family Ferrari out there and even though I admire the 612, my QP seems to have most of the tech on those except the v12 experience!

If you have ever owned, driven or experienced one please let me know what you think.

I think for me it is the best way to experience the Ferrari and fulfill the V12 urge. I cannot go for any two seat options as I like to keep my family involved..gulp.. no choice!

Do it!

I've been looking longingly at the FF for a couple of years, hoping that they would creep closer to 100k but to no avail. They seem to have sat at £125k and up for some time now, even the threat of the end of the Ferrari 7 years warranty hasn't hurt them.

I'm led to believe that you can get up to 60% residuals on them too which I think is safe over 3 or 4 years.

If I could get a 60% residual, i'd put down £25k on a £125k FF and get the payments below £1k a month. All I need is someone to give me £70k for my very rare Stradale.....

Yes. The Stradale! If I dither on the FF that's where my next deposit will go.
As you say, I would ideally like to get payments down to £1k. But given the figures from a £ 130k Red FF at the Swindon, a £ 30k deposit gets you a £ 1350 approx. monthly on GFV of £ 65K.
Does sound sensible the FF is not going to be £ 65k any time soon unless it get wrapped around a lamp post!

I'd doubt any FF would cost £65k soon, they are relatively unique in the Ferrari line up and are a very useful car, enough to be a daily. Go for it!

You can get monthlies to around £500 with the right lease purchase deal. I'd rather pay the interest than the capital on a car like an FF. Effectively you eat your deposit.

That's interesting Phil. I will look into that. I presume my initial deposit will have to be large for that kind of monthly to happen.

Explain! If you can get me monthly payments on an FF for £500 with no more than £25k down, there's no saying what I might do....

I ran one for 2 years and 10k miles. Its a great car to a point. The power is amazing and it is a practical car that you can drive like a BMW or a monster depending on your mood. The noise is terrific and its comfortable. Negatives were the worlds worst sat nav system - it really is borderline useless! Petrol consumption is vast especially on a run to the south of France and the boot is pretty small in relation to the whole vehicle. Its a fezza so its an event wherever you go, I got tired of that aspect after a while. Mine was reliable and never let me down and nothing broke on it either which was a pleasant surprise.

All in all, its technological tour de force and I am glad I did my time.....

That's very useful. Was that your first Ferrari? Did you replace it with another? What colour was it? Any must haves like pan roof? or lift?
My QP does get a lot of attention and I have certain "addons" which make it sound mental. And I like the cars to have a noticeable soundtrack.

Don't consider....Just do it....So much presence on the road. The only modern Ferrari I think I would consider.

I saw a pearl white one on the M1, looked amazing, and sounded epic. Noted the Sat Nav suckered to the windscreen too, which made me chuckle on such an expensive car

Do people really buy cars based on how good its sat nav is? I'm old school, I like to know where I'm going rather than listen to a voice. As to the other conundrums, just do it, it will be a box ticked :)

I'd love an FF. Made an enquiry on the one at Emblem at the mo, with my GT as a trade in.
Unfortunately I need a wider (double) garage as its too wide for mine, so an FF will have to wait for now.

I'll look after it in my storage place for you, and detail it, and run into course until you buy a suitable garage, attached to a house b

Great input and advice. I remember seeing BJL's at Ace meet. In an open car park it did not seem big but in the showroom it made the 612 next to it seem like a normal sized car. The seating is not too low as well.

Haven't seen a white one but read a thread called white FF on Ferrari chat which was one **** of a owner review by a legendary figure with a Ferrari background.

I would definitely not be able to garage the car as it is a single one and not big enough. So however despicable it may sound the car will have to bear the elements like the QP. I may get protection films and a heavy duty cover but that would be all.

And of course the QP will have to go :(.

I was in a similar position to you recently. And I wanted desperately to keep my family involved...
You can definitely get 60% at 3 years if you push them. That’s a safe residual if you can afford your deposit to be munched. I took two out for drives. They didn’t excite me which I was very sad about, as I wanted to want one. That combined with the side view killed the FF dream for me. It would be ideal for my family situation though. I took the 458 out straight after and I knew that I would always think what if. The ideal compromise will be the portofino when they drop to 150. I don’t understand the V12 urge personally. The 458 decimated the V12 vanquish and FF for sound and drive. But the 2 seats is an obvious compromise. Drive the 458 and the FF. then make a choice. If you enjoy the FF drive and like the look of it.. it’s a no brainer.

You could get low monthlies with a 25 k deposit on an FF , but it would come with an unrealistic balloon and huge exit penalties if you wanted to change cars early (several thousand).

We’ll get a deal Athol as I’ll have one too. I mean this, I don’t think it is possible, but if it is we will go and get two.

If you meet the HNW criteria - almost anything is possible. Its a strange finance world out there.
