Coilovers

What do you guys think about removing skyhook in favour of FD/KW coilovers (Maserati 4200 2003)?

Don't want to track it, just dial it in a little but not be too crashy on the road.

I think somebody has done that on here. I cant think who it was but hopefully they will be along to give you a comparative view between skyhook and FD handling pack.

No problem, but it would throw up a fault code that you couldn't reset..

What wrong with the old dampers, you can adjust the ride height to a certain degree any way and if you want slightly stiffer springs..

Faulkner's can supply road springs to any spec you want for very little money!

After tracking my GS for the first time last week I had a works driver with me for Honda factory team and he done a few laps in the GS, he was very impressed with the car overall in sport mode, I asked on improvement advice, suspension was first on the list followed by brakes, my GS has all 4 corners fully overhauled with new OEM springs, I have lowered it by a further 10mm. If i was tracking the car on a regular basis I would definitely look into new coil overs and bigger front brakes ( 6 pots) but for normal driving and occasional track use I will leave it as standard.

Would be interesting to get feed back on the FD springs or others only retaining the OE dampers and also complete damper and spring replacement.

I know FD do plug and play units to stop skyhook errors and lights.

Installed KW V3 a few months ago. Even on a soft setting, the difference is night and day. More comfortable, less body roll.
Skyhook error is not a problem, any workshop with the proper gear (SD) can disable skyhook in under 5 minutes. KW even include a guide with step by step screenshots in the box.

Bet he didn't mention the 300 kilo diet ;)

The KW V3s look good. Crazy that they are only £200 more than the V1 you would expect more of a price difference but I guess fully adjustable coilovers aren't necessarily the best thing if not set up right. Tempted though...

Anyone know the relevant dimensions for front and rear springs for Skyhook suspension,
as I'd like to order some new ones from Faulkners?

Sorry can't remember if you have a 3200 or a 4200.
If a 3200/4200 classico (same springs) they are something like £120 each (but for some reason they can be more or less), or a later 4200/GS (same springs) they are about £60 each.
Can't see why you couldn't fit the later 4200/GS springs anyway, whatever model you have.
I don't think you would save that much on £240 a set for OEM standard spec.

I've got the dimensions and rates for the rears somewhere, but as it'll be a custom job, I think it's probably about the same price to buy genuine from Eurospares. I replaced mine but the originals were ok, hadn't sagged or changed rate.

Have you still got the originals, as mine were an advisory on this years MOT because of '' corrosion'' !

Hi scociu

I have QP V M139 with leaking rear shock, which costs £1000 by itself.
Now considering KW V3 coilovers for £3k all round. man maths states might as well get an upgrade for less money than OEM. Not so interested in lower ride height, just better damping.
