coilovers or suspension retrofit

Does any one have any insight into possible retrofit options for coilovers or shocks? my setup is pretty tired. I've been looking at coilover kit options but they're all thousands of dollars. It doesn't make sense why they'd be so much more expensive than what I paid for my M3. Are there any coilovers made for other cars which can fit with some mild modification. My shop isn't afraid to fabricate when necessary. I note that the coilover kits for the quattroporte 5 are significantly cheaper and look almost the same. I recently had some luck retrofitting some new replacement fans instead of buying the Maserati ones and I'm feeling hot to trot.

Welcome to the forum.

I’m not aware of anyone who has tried this, but let’s see. If you have a replacement solution for the fans (I assume you mean the radiator fans) do share it with us!

Are you comparing like for like? There’s quite a difference in quality between someone like KW and some made in China efforts.

Is Greg at PPCP still offering a refurb service? Last I recall he advised he would only service Skyhook struts in batches.
Don't know anyone who has had theirs "done" but presumably as good as new thereafter. Maybe worth a call.

Have D2 coilovers on the 155, they are good but a bit firm and harsh for road use - as part of the refurb they will be coming off. Not that any of this helps with a 4200 though

I'll ask my mechanic for the name of the fans and what size on my next visit. My interior door handle on the passenger side has stopped working. Does this mean that I need a new actuator?

I should probably mention that I bought the car in October. It has a one year old clutch (11.8% wear according to Ferrari test from a few weeks ago), new f1 pump, new heater core, and new reverse gear unit. I pad 17.5 Canadian dollars for it. The reverse gear knob just became separated and unscrewed from the unit even though I've been incredibly gentle with it. It's less than a year old. I found a youtube DIY and I'm going to take the unit apart this weekend and attempt to re screw the knob back on. I'm a lawyer and I travel a lot doing a lot of day trip court appearances at least once per week. Other than the annoying little things happening I absolutely love the car. It puts a smile on my face every time I face the prospect of a 3 hour drive.

I had one skyhook shock absorber leak, so my suspension guy sent it to an Australian firm who rebuilt all 4 shocks for me.

Interested in genuine options here. Did I hear that (our own) David Askew will refurbish dampers?

I’d be interested in thoughts on Coilovers as I expect I’ll go this route at some point - the standard suspension is probably the only thing that I find slightly disappointing on the car still....especially with the roads around here....

He does 3200 adjustable damper refurbs for the type with the Ferrari actuators, but doesn't the 4200 damper have the motor inbuilt
