The clutch has eaten itself , Marios rang me earlier tonight saying that he had never seen anything like it , he is going to replace the flywheel , clutch , release bearing , main shaft bearing and s/bearing .22BBB367-B00D-4066-BED6-1506996CA811.jpeg

Wonder if that's one of the early clutches Mike before they got uprated?

When these tangs go will it ever do any damage to gearbox or anything else? Just interesting to know if proactively replacing the clutch before failure has any merits?

Ouch, that's a real mess! It looks like the thrust race has seized solid.
Yea Geo , it had been shrieking like mad when I got it then went quiet , that’s about the time it seized then proceeded to munch the clutch just hope the gearbox is ok .

I sincerely hope not rockits , luckily I didn’t drive it far in that condition and I was almost stationary when it let go .

Not heard of any issues. I believe Marios also recommends the replacement of the shaft the clutch bearings slide on.

Unless you heard any horrible crunching noises from the box before or after the catastrophic failure, the box should be just fine. There may be a bit of superficial marking inside the clutch housing if a tan was thrown out of the spinning clutch.

Wow that's the worst I have seen and I have changed a few.
You will really appreciate the new one ;)

That is quite a stupendous failure. Keep the old one, polish it up and use it as garage art!

Agree, they are almost separate entities. It's not as if the clutch drive seized solid.
