Clicking noise on weight transfer

Hi. Car is 2010 GTS MC Shift. Annoying click/clack when pulling away and then slowing back down.
Seems to come from the rear and coincide with weight transfer when either moving from rest or slowing down towards rest...
Any ideas?

Is it a metallic noise? Mine does the same. Not found the cause yet.

Drive shaft splines worn.
There was a repair procedure once.
I bet they are dry and rusty.

Metallic, yeah...maybe I'll check the areas that the other guys mention. Drive shaft splines...I take it that they would be in need of some grease in that case...

It is a good shout as my noise is sort of centre rear as best I can tell.

Guys, I still have this but have some more info. It's sort of weird. The wheel nuts were torque too high...when I went to untighten them I heard the same noise. I've torqued them to 100nm. I noticed the same started on the other side, again torqued properly. The noise has reduced significantly, but still there. Would wheel nut torque affect anything to do with driveshaft splines or...?

Any ideas...I'm sure when I take it to SportsItalia at the end of summer for its service they will sort it but it's kind of a personal al thing now that I'm convinced I can fix myself.

Did you have the entire rear up off the ground as you were re-torquing the wheels? So when either of the wheels was rotating, you heard the noise? Does it matter which direction the wheel is rotating? The noise occurs when driving off in a straight line - not around a corner?

Retorqued with vehicle standing, off jack. Noise only occurs under load transfer, I.e. pulling away or reversing. It has to be 'unloaded' before the noise is heard under load again, as above. Hope that makes sense. What I'm saying is that wheel nut torque appears to affect it.

I have the exact same problem with my right knee. :)

Yes, use the link above, the shafts bolt onto the emerging hubs either side of the differential, 3200's and 4300's have all experienced these bolts failing at times, stands to reason the 4.7;s will be just as susceptible...

Since I replaced my delaminating handbrake shoes I have not had an issue. Only metallic clicking now is the exhaust heating and cooling..
