@Bebs since you’re here.. Where’s the best place to buy cigars? I have always used Cgars, is there somewhere else for a better price?

I once played an international against Cuba (Rugby) and they gave us cigars afterwards. But that’s the extent of my smoking. Afterall, smoking and elite level sport aren’t natural bed fellows!
Playing Cuba at rugby doesn't necessarily imply "elite" ;)

For buying in the UK I believe Cgars are the cheapest. I had a business relationship with the owner for a period of time.
These days I tend to stock up when I travel to Spain, Belgium, Switzerland or of course Cuba.

Love a good cigar.
H. Upmann 1844 Reserve
Personally, I prefer a DR smoke to a Cuban.

Very true! (Though this wasn’t the only game of rugby I ever played.)
But what was interesting in that particular game was that their winger had won the 100m final in the Pan-American games that year, beating then world champion Donovan Bailey. Safe to say he was quite sharp (!) so scored three tries in the first half.
And there number 8 had won a boxing medal at the previous Olympics, in the heavy weight division. So when the two packs decided to mix it up towards the end of the game, it all got messy very quickly. Luckily for us the ref blew up to finish the game and we all trooped over the road to a petrol station to buy some celebratory beers. A strange but fun day.

Other random minor national teams I played against on various tours included Barbados, Jamaica, Germany, Estonia, Finland, Hungary and South Korea (Tony Underwood scored the wining try in that game). Anyway, happy times.

What is your particular prefefence DR v Cuban Oishi? I ask because the Upmann 1844 Reserve is generally regarded as a good cigar for smokers who prefers old school Cuban style flavours.

I like the occasional cigar, probably once every 5 years. Always nice at the time, but I wake up feeling like I had a garden bonfire in my throat! This is a very old photo...

@Bebs , we didn't have Cubans here in the US for years, and when I did get to try them, I was a bit disappointed. To my taste the Dominican cigars are just smoother. Mrs. Oishi and I have a modest art collection, so smoking indoors is verboten. Love your smoking room!

Ah makes perfect sense now. Variety is the spice of life anyhow (although not sure Mrs Bebs agrees with that entirely..)

I guess it's an acquired taste.
I've never smoked a cigarette, I've had a couple of cigars, mostly drunk, on Stag do's many years ago, and in the morning totally regretted it!

I used to smoke. Cigars (sort of) the cigs, rolls ups when skint, then cigs again, the cigars when I quit the cigs. Finally had to quit the cigars when I was doing nearly as many cafe cremes as I would have been doing Marlboro lights.

Still feel the pull. having spent some time around teams that smoked about 8 years back, pretty damned sure I'd just hack if I tried a decent cigar now.

Still feel like trying sometimes!
