I gotta say, I am blown away by the friendship and comraderie on this forum...especially vis-a-vis the other one. I know there are orders of magnitude in size between our nations, so logistics can be a little more daunting...but even just the general tone and the obvious high regard in which most folks on here hold each other is something to behold. Not trying to be maudlin...just saying I wish I could be there in December, and that I appreciate you all tolerating a moron in GMT+5...

I think you'll find that the Atlantic Ocean only came into being at around the time of the Revolutionary War, as you called it. Or, The World's Most Bitter Divorce/Never Marry Your Cousins, as its referred to over here.
That's why we built the Panama Canal and Suez Canals. So we could fill the Atlantic, once we'd found the plug.
As regards the 'high regard' thing. Give it time. When I joined, frequently there was more lead flying than at the OK Corral. Things have settled down somewhat. Or, some of us have had our medications altered. Funnily enough, things calmed a bit during the original Covid outbreak. Perhaps because we were all united against the enemy.

My own fam only settled in the states post-WWII, when my paternal grandmother was so overcome with joy that my grandfather had returned that she allowed herself to have sex that one time...and none of us are particularly well-educated. So this all seems plausible to me!
