Check Brake pad warning light

The check brake pad warning light has started to come on (it appears randomly), then go off again.

I have recently had the alloys done so wondering if it is spurious or not. Has anyone had it come on before?
(The current front pads have only done around 30-35k miles, and when it was in for service 3k miles ago they said they were fine)..

30 - 35k? That’s a fair amount. On my BMW the pads last about 40k miles.

If it goes on and off when you brake it could well be the sensor as it makes a contact through the brake disc to switch a light on. You should be able to see pad thickness through the wheel spokes.

It doesnt go on and off with my braking.. it comes on and stays on.. then goes off.

Are there sensors on the rears too? Its on its original rear discs and pads @93k miles!

I don’t think there will be on the rears. The rears will wear less, but that is definitely getting into the area where you would expect them the be a bit worse for wear!

I have an SQ4, 20K miles. Check Brake light comes on once every 4-5 days and goes off after a few seconds. Is it time to replace? I don't hear in squeaking.

Anybody got them changed at a non-dealer and know how much the discs/pads run and what a non-dealer should charge to replace?

Put your reg into Euro Car Parts and get a price for the pads (or discs if you need them after 20k Miles!).

Fitting brakes to an Audi is slightly easier than falling off a log in my experience so it will be a couple of hours maximum.

I take it you mean a Ghibli S Q4? My local garage charged me about £150 to supply and fit a new pair of Brembo front pads. From the dealer it was in the region of £500..

If you have the S, you will have the sport brakes?

Ignore me! :p

Let me try again. You should have the 6 pot brakes, so there are a few alternative parts for the pads as you share the pattern with various cars like the Giulia QV (they have a built in wear sensor that you can cut off). For the discs you are really stuck with MD (Ask Ross at Meridien Modena as he offers forum members a discount) or the likes of Eurospares or Scuderia Parts.

I've replaced my rear brake rotors and put the new EBC pads on I installed a few months back. I've now got an intermittent *Check brake pad" warning on the dash. The wear sensor was looking at bit tired when I reconnected it, but I didn't replace it as I didn't buy one.

I assume the warning is more than likely related to the sensor?
