What's you definition of cheap and what are your expectations of storage?

If you are happy with leaving her outside then look at caravan storage. Or a long term council parking space / garage.

Or a mate's driveway? Beyond that, cost is dependent on service.

We charge £150 per month for dry, heated, dehumidified, CTEK, cover, alarmed, access via tarmac roads (not farm tracks) etc,

I'm looking for dry storage but not necessarily dehumidified. Don't want to have it exposed to elements but equally it is not a 70 year old investment grade garage queen.

I've been paying £60pm renting privately a space on an underground ventilated compound not far from where i live in London. Not museum condition but more than adequate. This is where i used to keep the QP but the 4C is occupying the space now. The problem is these are not coming by all to often.

SpirtsItalia! Sounds more likely a dodgy house or disrepute. £100 a month is cheap for such a service though....... ;)

Does it really matter what car if you are paying the same?
Just sounds a bit snobbish!

Where I store my car someone has put a MK4 Golf 1.6 automatic and a Mk2 Fiesta Popular in storage. Quite odd next to a McLaren P1 an original Ghibli (and my Strad of course). This, I imagine, is what they are trying to avoid.

Oh and a word of warning. Had a customer with a brand new Ford Mustang who decided he would rather pay a farmer £80 a month than us £120 (discounted rate for a 12 month commit paid up front). 3 months later when visiting the car it had a rat infestation and as well as the smell and obvious damage they had eaten the firewall material in the bulkhead. This is an engine out job to restore and on him (no insurance from the farmer). Even when fixed the car still stinks. Effectively a write-off. Similar story with a Ferrari owner who chooses to drive his car down a rutted muddy track to save £40 a month and also had mice damage.

Avoid why? They pay the same, can afford the same as the P1 owner, can't see the problem personally. If they value their Golf/Fiesta and are willing to pay for the same standard of storage, they should be able to.

Check with your insurer before you do anything. Storing away from your post code may increase premiums. They may exclude vermin damage. If it is a site with caravans and motor homes where there is risk your car could be bashed, they may refuse to cover.

I could be wrong but I think the storage referred to is part of the huge new workshop unit and so the cars are effectively “on show”

Parking it on the road would have been a better option.

Rodent damage tends to happen in garages.

...plus has to take them on regular Test Drives to ensure they remain mechanically fit ;)

Similarly, it’s up to them if they want to protect their image for visiting customers.

The owners of Golfs and Fiestas can choose to pay for storage, just not there.

Do you think the P1 owner looks down his nose at your Stradale in the same way?

In car parks I park next to cars that seem well looked after and with quite a high value sooner than next to cars that maybe have their doors flung open with more vigour. Perhaps this is the same principle.
