Whilst we are on the subject, if one was to buy a three phase unit, how would you get it to work on domestic single phase?

I have always used Transwave inverters for this, you can get them in a range of sizes, the last one I had was a 15 hp rotary and cost me around £1200 (I ran a complete polishing shop off it when we had issues with our 3 Phase supply) but you can pick up a couple of Hp for a lot lot less

I use a Transwave inverter to run my three phase lathe from a single phase supply. Have a look on google, there are a few to choose from.

You can wire in a phase converter (can’t remember the proper name of them) but single phase in three phase out. Quite juicy though. Clark’s do them (machine mart) but you may need a larger one than they do.

couple of other options would be, change the motor to a single phase one or get three phase supply run to your workshop/garage
3 phase board will also supply 240 volt as well

I can imagine...seen plenty of videos on web when I was researching. Problem with EC and equivalent ratings....don't mean squat in the real world sometimes. Mine seems very heavy duty which is good as the Maser lives up there most of the time!

They will print whatever label you want. EC, TUV etc. They asked me once what I wanted printing on the box and instructions for cctv I was procuring 750 or 900 Tvl!

The Italians can certainly make some Good gear. I have a Beta roll cab and several sets of tools that I keep as my home tool set and rate them highly.
