Changed my 4200 for a Ghibli

I've just part exchanged my 2003 4200 for a 2016 Ghibli, and have a few questions that I'm sure can be answered on here. It has the following extras, and I was wondering what they are.

CTP Selection; Briar Root Inserts; Pastel Colour Paint; Business Pack; Compulsory Pack; Standard Leather Manuvering Opt.; Dual Cast Braking System.

The car is solid black with a black leather interior.

Many thanks.

Well done Paul, will be interested to here your opinion vs the outgoing 4200.

Its is Petrol or Diesel?

Maf and Contigo are probably your best bets to get the answers you desire.

Cheers Matt. Loving it so far. A very solid car, and drives real nice. It's a 3.0D, so better on the fuel than the 4200. Not as fast of course, but has enough power to bring smile to my face.

Taking it down to Emblem later this month for a going over before the Maserati warranty expires on 31 March, so will know a bit more about it then I hope.

Theres nothing really that is a "known issue". If it has the HID headlights make sure the headlight washers work properly, they are very costly to replace.

Thanks. Sorry for my ignorance, but what are the HID headlights?

Xenon Headlights. By law they have to have headlight washers or it will fail the MOT.

Just noticed that my passive entry works on the passenger door and boot, but not the drivers door. Is this a settings issue, or something else?

Passive entry is an on/off setting in the MTC so I suspect it’s something else. If you’re still under warranty get it checked.

I’ve disabled it as it’s a potential way for someone to steal the car from the drive. I can’t say that I miss it as I usually unlocked using the key anyway.

Thanks. I'll get it checked out. Good call about theft!! Another question if I may. Do you know if DAB can be installed on an MTC that hasn't got it as standard? I see that it is the same unit as Chrysler.

I’m not sure if it can be retro-fitted though my unit does have DAB. The issue I think will be the DAB aerial which will cost to run rather than the aerial itself.

I believe I read somewhere that it can be retrofitted, again from memory I think it was £500. However not 100% certain on this.
I too have owned a Ghibli Diesel for about three and half years, and echo your thoughts.
I would add in this time the engine has proved to be 100% reliable.
The only issues have been the odd electronic problem, which so far has always been sorted by the equivalent of a reset i.e disconnect the battery leave for a minute and then reconnect.
To me the fact that the diesel is indistinguishable from the petrol, and when in Sport mode people have asked if it’s a V8 !!
The sound from the exhaust albeit electronic was apparently created from the Ferrari V8 used in the Quartoporte. There are also firms that offer sound booster modules allowing you to vary exhaust note.

By the way, if you are located in or near London, given you mentioned your car is a 2016 it should be exempt from the new ULEZ charge beginning in April. However TfL have the 16 on wards m/y Ghibli Diesels wrongly classified as subject to the charge. I had to get a letter from Maserati confirming it met the requirements and was not subject to the fee.
Incidentally at the time it seemed there were plenty of other makes of car wrongly classified, with BMW being mentioned when I spoke to them.

Changed the black Ghibli for a blue one. Turned out the black one didn't have the service history as stated by the dealer, and some of the extras listed in the advert weren't on the car. The new one is a 2015 diesel with 20" Sports Pack (and Skyhook) , Convenience Pack, Cold Weather Pack and Premium Pack. Blu Emozione with tan leather. Much nicer than the previous one.Page 1.jpgPage 1.jpg

I really hate this, and its all to common, the computer says its got this and this, when in reality it doesn't, try to cover themselves by saying ' the details may not be accurate blah blah' they're selling the bl***y thing, the least they should do is check, ok rant over !

I found out from Meridien Maserati that to install DAB is just a software upgrade. That said, they told me it was £400 for the software and £200 labour. Glad I got rid of that car, and got one with DAB already installed!!

Very nice Paul and well done for rejecting the other one.
Cheers Matt. Much happier with this one, especially all the toys it has! Love the colour and Tan interior. Much more 'Maserati' than the black one. Just had it remapped at Devil Developments in Littlehampton. Now running 310 BHP. Highly recommend them for ECU remapping.

Well done Paul, glad it worked out for you. Did you ever get to the bottom of those options on the first car? I couldn’t help but smile at the concept of the original buyer paying for an option called a ‘Compulsory Pack’......... Probably part of another pack but still!!
