Change of car - Is GardX worth paying for??

Don’t worry the Stradale isn’t going anywhere.... My wife has clocked up 22k miles in 14 months in the Land Cruiser and 1) wants something that fits into carpark spaces, 2) something slightly less thirsty. We need a 7 seater for kids / their friends and selling a 14 month old car isn’t bright so the LC stays and she’s after a mid-size SUV. The shortlist was X3, GLC or XC60. The Volvo won though it feels funny saying that......
The bad news is we can’t have three 4x4’s so my beautiful TD5 Defender 90 has to go and is up for sale at a garage in Colchester.

Back to the question. The Volvo dealer wants to sell me the GardX paint / interior protection but my past experience of these products has been underwhelming. Does anyone know the product and think it’s worth paying for? Also if so what’s the right number as I guess the product costs them next to nothing??

Thanks, Mark.

Only worth it if for free. Otherwise pay £400-£500 with a proper company to get the car properly prepared and protected.

I would not trust them to ensure the car was fully clean and prepared before application.

Get it done by a dedicated co... and if they say they do the same they will be changing a commission.

Waste of time and money, imho. If you’re Essex-ish and you want to spend a few hundred quid getting it polished and protected then get get Stu at F1 Wax to detail and protect it. He spends a lot of time in Colchester at Lancaster prepping cars that customers want done well rather than by the dealer.

Sorry to hear about the Defender needing to go.

Thanks guys that’s really useful. In any case it’s not the Maser, we are talking family run around so I’m not spending the £525 offer price nor the “but for you we can do £399....” I think you are absolutely right about them not fully prepping a car they’ve sold and want out of the door asap.

Yes, the Defender going hurts but once the kids have flown the nest and we can be a bit more creative with cars then I’ll definitely get another one.
