Cerbera to Stradale

I’ve joined the forum today for some of your expertise and experience.
I’ve had my TVR Cerbera 4.5 for 12 years and I’m now thinking of changing it for a GranTurismo MC Stradale.
Firstly have any of you made a similar change?
Apart from the Carbon seats on a 2 seater and carbon bonnet on a 4 seat Stradale, are there any other significant differences between 2 seat and 4 seat Stradale’s?
Are 2 seat Stradale’s considered more desirable? And is that just because they are rarer or is there something else that makes them more special than a 4 seat?

Any advice is appreciated.

many thanks
Michael

Welcome and what a great position to be in.

Those who have a 2 seat will agree that those cars are more desirable, but of course they are very few 2 seats.

4 seats do give more space and practical... horses for courses, but both lovely.

Exactly that. They are both special cars, you might struggle to prise a two seater from an owner as they are a bit rarer.

I see there’s currently a 2 seater for sale at VVS for £54,990 and 30k miles, not sure if that’s a good price for one?

Cheapest one available. Good spec also, plus a warranty. You’ll not fine better currently.
The 2 v 4 seat debate boils down to whether you actually want/need 4 seats. If you do, through gritted teeth, buy a 4 seat. If you don’t, happy days, you can treat yourself to the real deal. ;)

4 seats offer the obvious practicality so if you have kids then that’s an easy choice but if not the 2 seater is certainly quirky and that has a clear appeal - even to 4 seater owners Ewan!!
I really like the bonnet with the extra air intake on the later cars. In real world performance terms, there won’t be much between the two, neither are going to be a trackday king but that’s not where their strengths lie. Once you’ve driven one, experienced the noise, road presence and the theatre of every outing, you‘ll know you’re making the right car choice.
Good luck and enjoy the car hunting!

Maybe you should try Cerberati known as Cerbera 4.7 "Trident" wit 4.7 Maserati engine and 6 speed manual pushing 480hp ?

I went from an early 4.2 Cerb, to Tuscan, to my Assetto Corsa. You may miss the raw big go cart feel of the Cerbera, mine always felt like it was right on the edge of blowing up! I loved it.

I am very surprised this hasn’t sold. Some may be put off as it was a press car and been raged but I would say it would have been well looked after all Maserati wouldn’t have wanted the press getting hold of an unloved car....I think it’s a Lovely car. The other difference between the 2 and 4 seater is the 4 seater as a little extra BHP I believe. Performance is pretty much identical though as this power just counter acts the extra weight of rear seats.

Just noticed Stradale for sale via email from Sytner, not seen on their site. Bianco fuji with black interior, 2 seater less than 10k miles and 2 year warranty. Asking £68,000 which sounds a lot until I realised it is on 13k more than above black/black/black car. Is the choice of "not black + 2 year warranty + low miles" worth 13k? To someone it will be and might even be sold.

Personally I can afford to run a maserati only, buying is for another day

What's driving the change from TVR to Maserati? There is a huge difference IMO and if you enjoy the rawness of the TVR you will probably be disappointed with a Strad. If however, you are looking for a more refined GT car you are in the right place.

Thanks for all the feedback so far.
I have 2 children so obviously a 4 seat makes most sense but who buys a car like this to be sensible, I think I’d prefer a 2 seat as they just seem that little bit more special to me I love the sparco seats and I have a family car for the kids.
I’m definitely not put off by the ex press car, if anything I think it adds a nice bit of history having been driven by Clarkson on Top Gear. I wouldn’t be worried about it being thrashed, as many have said it would have been well maintained and they are designed to be driven hard, also any other car would be a complete unknown as to how hard it was driven or maintained.
Before I can do anything I’ll need to sell my TVR privately to get a half decent price for it and I can’t really advertise it until it’s been serviced and MOT’d which I’ve got booked in at the end of May. So need to wait and see what strads are available then.

I fancy a change as I’ve had the TVR for 12 years and for the last few years I’ve found I’ve hardly used it.
I’d like something a little less raw than the TVR as I think I’d use it more.
I’m yet to drive a stradale but I’m thinking it may be somewhere between the comfort and refinement of a standard granturismo and the sportiness of a TVR?
Looks and sound have always been my first priorities when buying a fun car and I think it ticks both those boxes.

In case anyone here is interested in the TVR.. What more can you tell us?
I’ve owned it since April 2009 and I’m the 3rd owner (reg X221 FGO)

It has 18” raceline RL7 alloys and a spare set of 18” spiders.
Upgrades include Nitron shock absorbers with Eibach springs, 330mm front discs, ACT sports exhaust (I still have the original back box), Joolz remap with new purple silicon induction hoses.
It had a front end respray done in 2016 by HHC at Hexham.

Service history,
25-1-2000 Mole Valley 48 miles
29-5-2001 Mole Valley 1156 miles
02-01-2002 Mole Valley 2038 miles

Looks nice but if a Blackpool kit car is commanding 33k then the world has gone crazy!

Some Blackpool kit cars command a lot more than that...
