Couldn’t resist posting this. I gave my old workhorse a wash and polish yesterday using £2.99 Auto XS that I bough from Auldi last year. All done in an hour and a half, I was well pleased with the outcome.

I did a DIY job with Gtechniq Crystal Serum Lite and two coats of Exo plus Wheel Armour 18 months ago. I now live in a mostly dry and dusty environment but the car does get wet and dirty occasionally over the winter months. The car is kept under a car port and washed once a fortnight. Every second wash I top off with Gtechniq liquid crystal.

In the 18 months since coating I have never had to do anymore than power wash the car and very gently wipe it dry with a very thick microfibre towel. The towel is clean after I wipe it down. So a good power wash removes every bit of dirt or dust on the paintwork and no swirls are added in this cleaning process. I am a huge fan of Gtechniq products and have also started using their marine products on my boat.

With a well polished and sealed/protected/waxed (as applicable!) car I find a jet wash, snow foam, jet wash does get the majority off.
These days I spray the car with the shampoo through the snow foam lance, and then just use a single rinse bucket for the wash mitt between panels.
Now seems silly having a bucket of shampoo that can get dirty, when you can put the clean shampoo straight onto the car. It was autoglym polar wash that got me onto the idea, but just tried my normal shampoo instead with the same result!

I Iike Gtechniq products too, so far. Glass, wheels, trim restorer...they have been easy & effective.
Done right, & using a blower-drier, not physically touching the paint except to wax is the aim for me here too....

I have the Gtechniq Ceramic system on mine and simply have a top up treatment every 12 months. This keeps the beading etc etc. I had the same on my previous car which had a CeramicPro system on it. I didn’t think ceramic was supposed to last forever, and like a wax you top it up from time to time.

I've used gtech on the bonnet of one of my cars. Disaster! It just left a very streaky finish which I had to polish very hard to remove it. Never again. TBH using any of these polymer based surface treatments you really need a machine polisher or dont bother. You can never get a good finish just hand polishing.

This is the roof of my Vantage. It was machine polished and had PPF applied two years ago, the PPF removed and reapplied two weeks ago (the old one had gone a bit weird for some reason), two coats of Hydro Slick and two coats of R222. I'm sure it'll need doing again in a month or so, but I'm happy enough with that finish.

Did you read the instructions and follow them? I found it very easy to apply with a perfect streak free finish

Feynlab self-healing coating just applied. This will protect against swirls and bird etching etc. It actually self-heals with heat. You could take a wire brush to this and emulate really, really bad swirling and then hot water or hair dryer will remove. I had a serious bird etching on a previous treated car - baked on for 2 weeks whilst I was away. Gently removed and heated up and disappeared.

I have had similar issues, last time with some stuff called Max Protect. Didn't go well.
Latest on the stuff from begining of this post Mr Fix 9h Ceramic from Amazon is that after polishing, by hand, application was a breeze! Shine / Gloss was excellent.
1 week later and first rain is beading as it should and looking good. For £7 I'm happy with that.

It is NOT PPF but a coating

The price on that web link is about right but you need to add paint correction etc. In summary, a lot more than most ceramic coatings but a lot less than PPF.
